Onkyo TX-SR806 power switch clicks constantly. No HD channels.

Onkyo TX-SR806 power switch clicks constantly for a while, and appears like it isn't receiving the signal from my cable box. There is also "crackling" of the audio. After a while, the HD channels would slowly start to "paint" the screen, The non-HD channels would come in more quickly. Now, over time, it got worse with no ability to get any HD channels though I can sometimes still get non-HD channels through the same connection from the cable box. The power switch still clicks. I have the same problem with the Blu-ray player connection so it seems it is not able to handle HD signals. I tried swapping all cables/inputs/outputs but it makes no difference. I also "reset" to factory defaults and as expected, it didn't help. Any ideas?

I probably should have mentioned that everything was working fine for years; this is a new issue. Also, that all connections are HDMI.

SOURCE: I cannot get video signal from my Samsung p1590

I think this one is for the Onkyo wizards:

I would write them via email here:

However I did find this 2 page hookup manual with nice notes at link listed below that may help you solve the mystery:

(seems you may have to assign the digital input)

http://filedepot.onkyousa.com/Files/QuickHookup/TX-SR606_QSS_En_A.pdf?CFID=918117&CFTOKEN=40624545&jsessionid=f0306ea8a0d68bb60a49102e3e5510576756

Assigning the Digital Input
If there’s no sound, you’ll need to assign the digital inputs as
necessary using the setup menus on the TX-SR606’s display.
If you connect your DVD player to the AV receiver’s COAXIAL 1
DIGITAL IN, and your cable/satellite receiver to the COAXIAL 2
DIGITAL IN, as shown, it’s not necessary to assign the digital input.
The onscreen setup menus appear only on a TV that is
connected to the HDMI OUT. If your TV is connected to the composite video or S-Video MONITOR OUT, or the
COMPONENT VIDEO OUT, use the TX-SR606’s display when changing settings.

Thanks for using FixYa!

If you have warranty left I would encouage you to use it because you clearly have a problem, the cable has been changed along with connections checked. The only other thing is check your setting carefully on both units to ensure nothing was missed, "owner manuals would be handy"

Hello, the most used buttons can wear out over time. On/standby and volume are the ones that are used most often. I suggest purchasing a new remote. It is available at shoponkyo.com. Thank you, Onkyo USA

I have a Onkyo TX-SR806 HDMI output does not work anymore. Tried switching HDMI cables. My component video output works.

Sounds like you may have a bad HDMI card my friend. I had an issue with my HDMI card that was causing blue dots to appear on the dark parts of the screen, when outputting 1080p over HDMI. This is a rather common issue, so it wouldn't surprise me if your HDMI board needs replacement - especially if you've ever experienced the infamous blue dot issue.

My reciver just shutdown then went into standby mode. Will not power back on. How do I fix this problem?

What do you mean by standby mode? Do you hear the power relay switch clicking constantly, or does it just click once and turn off? In any case, it could be a faulty power relay. I just sent in my TX-SR806 for warranty repair recently, and it ended up being just that.
