I just figured it out last night - if you have used your playstation on an hd tv previously, it is set at the highest resolution possible - 1080p. You need to take it back to that tv, and go to display settings on your tv. If you select HDMI as they type of connection you'd like to make, it asks you what resolution your tv supports. In your tv instruction guide, it should give you this information. Check mark all of the resolutions your tv supports, making sure not to confuse 1080i and 1080p. After doing this you can take it back to your other television and it should work.

PLaystation 3 won't link up via HDMI cable

You might want to try a factory reset on your PS3 = turn it off then hold down the power button for 5 seconds it should then Beep.

there is a small memory in the PS3 that stores info about the tv that is was Initially setup on. IF you do this reset this should allow you to connect it to your Acoustic Solutions tv via the hdmi cable.
Another Tip i would do is connect it all up with it turned off then power up your appliances once its all connected.

Hope this sorts it out for you

Black and white display screen

If you have an HDTV use HDMI or component to connect to get colour...if you have an SDTV and use the RGB cables unfortunately the PS3 will output NTSC signals for JApan/NA and your SDTV will accept PAL signals (EU). THere may be an adapter, but if you have an HDTV this problem should solve itself via HDMI/component cables.

Hd tv as no hdmi plug

There are PS3-components cables available out there (the Red/Green/Blue one) you can use to connect your PS3 to your TV and still get HDTV on your TV system. You should be able to get it where you bought your Playstation. Got one for 39.99$ CAN

Re-Set the PS-3, by pressing and holding down the power button (front panel) this hard re-sets the unit and yo can then reconfigure via the composite video cable it came with, back to HDMI / DVI

No color

Sounds like you are having a issue with color format or a bad connection cable... In the US we use the NTSC color format, Japan uses NTSC-J, and Europe uses PAL. This matters quite a bit; if you have some Special Edition PS3 that they only sell in Japan and have it plugged into your Flatscreen TV in the UK no dice. Make sure you do not have conflicting regions for your hardware. Moreover, make sure the pixel resolution is not out of bounds for your TV's range. The PS3 has different connection cables for every kind of connection; RCA, HD, HDMI. I recommend using HDMI if your TV supports it.
