Monitor Blinking My LCD monitor has been blinking (2 sec blank - 1 sec on) for a couple of days now. I connected the monitor onto another computer and it still blinked. I also fixed another monitor to the same computer and it worked fine. I changed the power code and switched off speakers and no difference. Any suggestion fix would be appreciated.

Hello guys

I had the same problem. My LCD ViewSonic VX 924 has been blinking

For repar it i changed the following capacitors : 100uF/400v
330uF/25v and 330uF/35v

if that always flickers you can also change the two 470uF/25v capacitors

Hello,

The first thing to check is that your graphic card is not sending an image with an incorrect resolution or refresh rate to the monitor (1280x1024 at 75Hz max). You should also make sure the power cord is fine. And eventually try the monitor on another computer.

We had 4 of theses monitor viewsonic monitors having these symptoms at work. The first 3 were replaced by since they were still under warranty (3 year!).

It was indeed a problem with the power supply unit. I dismantled the monitor and had a close look at the PSU (which is also the inverter in that model). Pair of 680uF 16V capacitors at the top were bumpy and one had its plastic casing melted. Changed these two and the monitor stopped blinking!!!

Although it stopped blinking the back-lighting would turn itself off 3 seconds after it was turned on. (I could still see the picture on the screen but without the back-lighting).
To fix that, I reduced the brightness of the monitor halfway. And it's now working fine! I suppose the inverter board can't handle the full brightness anymore.

Hope this helps.

This is a Common problem MOST if NOT ALL, problems like this with this type of fault it is invairably a problem with the Power Supply, in the PSU Electrolytic capacitors dry out and often cause this type of exact problem... It is a relitively simple fix, by replacing the caps with new ones... Any good shop should be able to fix for a modest fee.. OR if ya know anyone handy with a soldering iron maybe they could do it for you there are generally about 4 - 6 to replace... in the PS section, just do them all to be safe

Hi All

It seems to be a common problem for LCD ViewSonic VX 924 at least. Mine was blinking when plugged it in to digital cable and did not work at all with analog one.
There is a powerful transistor at the PSU which overheated so exessive heat damaged capacitors nearby.
In my case I have just replaced the two 470uF/25v capacitors and 330uF/25v

I agree with Silverdragon in that it's usually the cheap capacitors used in many monitors. I have fixed several monitors by replacing the capacitors in the power circuit. You can read about it and see pictures here: Fix an LCD Monitor

Monitor Blinking

HI SrFixer -
Since you were able to attach another monitor to the computer and it worked, that would indicate that the problem is not a computer problem but a problem with either the monitor or the monitor cable (data). Try another monitor cable on the monitor that didn't work and see if that works. If it still does not work, then I am afraid that your monitor has gone bad and needs replacing.

Hope that helps
