How to receive the best dishwasher repair help on FixYa

There are a couple of things that you should include in your dishwasher repair question when you ask it on FixYa.com

1. Model Number

The model number can be located on the model/serial number tag that is located on the dishwasher.

Make sure you get the full model number from this tag and not the model number from the owners manual.

The model number from the owners manual only includes the first few digits of the full model number because they include that owners manual with many similar models of dishwashers.

With the full model number I'm able to look up factory service manuals, tech sheets, wiring diagrams, factory service pointers and so much more.

2. Detailed description of the problem

At the very least give a brief description of the problem you are having with your dishwasher.

Descriptions like 'My dishwasher don't work' is not very helpful.

Describe what is not working. For example is the dishwasher not filling with water? Maybe the dishwasher is full of water but it will not pump the water out?

The more details you can give the better. Instead of saying 'The dishwasher will not pump the water out' you could go into more detail and say something like...

"My dishwasher starts ok and seems to run fine, but at the end of the cycle when I went to take the dishes out there was still about a inch of water left in the bottom. I also noticed the the dishes did not get very clean, especially the glasses in the top dish rack."

Following these couple tips can help you get a faster and more accurate reply to your dishwasher repair question.

Bosch SHE4AM15UC/03 leaking

If you have water leaking from the center of the bottom of the dishwasher, it is likely that there is a problem with the pump or pump gasket. Here are some steps you can take to identify and fix the issue:
  1. Check the drain hose: Make sure that the drain hose is not kinked or clogged, and that it is securely attached to the pump.
  2. Inspect the pump: Look for any signs of damage or wear on the pump, such as cracks, leaks, or loose parts. You may need to remove the dishwasher from its mounting to get a good look at the pump.
  3. Replace the pump gasket: If you suspect that the pump gasket is the source of the leak, you will need to remove the pump and replace the gasket. This can be a time-consuming process, but it is often necessary to prevent further leaks.
  4. Call a professional: If you are not comfortable performing these repairs yourself, or if you have tried these steps and the leak persists, it may be time to call a professional dishwasher repair service.
Remember to always disconnect the dishwasher from its power source before attempting any repairs, and follow all safety precautions recommended by the manufacturer.

Why is my Kitchenaid dishwasher model KUDS01DJSS0 pump making loud humming noise? Pump motor suddenly began making loud humming noise when running. (not so bad when draining).

Some dishwashers have a soft food disposal inside. If something is hung up, it will grind or hum for a long time. If this is the problem, it will eventually go away.

You really must get a service manual. But if you cannot find one, simply open up the inspection hatch, and look for the source of the leak, usually around the Pump, filters etc, often a fitting has come loose... as related locate and repair your leak.

Turn dishwasher on and hear a loud noise like something is stuck. Took apart and just under grate filled w/ water. Any Ideas?

most of these kind of problems have to do with the pump being plugged up or jammed. but also could be motor, motor switch /capacitor. the pump is always the first place to look. as ive said before PLEASE turn circuit breaker off before doing any repairs
