I'm trying to setup a dual display on a big screen plasma TV to do a Powerpoint presentation from my Toshiba laptop. I am using a VGA cable that has proven to work with a Sony laptop. When I startup initially it displays on the TV while I'm booting up but then gives me an error ''Invalid Signal'' on the TV and the laptop displays a blank screen. My only option at this point is to shutdown the laptop, unplug the VGA, and restart without the VGA cable plugged in to get my normal notebook display back.
I'm using a Toshiba Satellite X205 with Windows Vista Ultimate Service Pack 1
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7300 @ 2.00GHz, 2001 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 2.00 GB
NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT
The TV is a JVC plasma, (sorry that's all I can tell from the TV)
Any ideas?
Thanks
To switch between screens try pressing the FN key and F5. You should not have to restart you computer. As for the TV error "invalad signal" you might have to change the screen resolution on you computer. You might have to try a few different resolution before you find one your tv accepts.
1.
Open Display Settings by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, clicking Personalization, and then clicking Display Settings.
2.
Under Resolution, move the slider to the resolution you want, and then click Apply.
