SOURCE: product key

The product key has to match the CD. In other words, an OEM XP sticker found on a computer case requires an OEM XP CD with the same Service Pack level and version. An Upgrade CD won't work with an OEM serial #. OEM Home SP1 Sticker = OEM Home SP1 CD OEM Professional SP2 Sticker = OEM Professional SP2 CD Yes, it can be a pain getting the two to match up since most of the stickers I've seen do not indicate whether they are SP1 or SP2.

Hello Coreymanis,

You need to purchase the windows XP CD to get the Genuine CD Key.
You can reinstall windows 2000 Professional if you have CD Key of it, but it needed the CD also. If your friend having the CD you can use that CD and use the CD key which you have.

I suggest not to install windows 2000 professional because this has been expired as per Microsoft and no support available in future.

Hi Mathew

You can download or borrow cd disk from friend if they have same version of xp and you can make copy of cd. Your product key is that makes it legal copy so its unsecure to post your key to internet forum or any public site.

Best wishes,
