Control panel and oven door lock
The oven door and controls can be locked to avoid unintended use of the oven. The oven doors and controls cannot be locked if the oven is in use, or the oven temperature is 400°F (205°C) or above. The current time of day will remain in the display when the controls and oven doors are locked.
To lock the control panel and both oven doors:

  1. Press and release Cancel.
  2. Press and hold upper oven Cancel and Cook & Hold for 3 seconds. “Off” appears in the display and “Lock” flashes while the controls and oven doors lock. Both oven doors lock. “Lock” remains lit in the display.
To unlock the control panel and both oven doors:
  1. Press and hold upper oven Cancel and Cook & Hold for 3 seconds. “Off” disappears from the display and “Lock” flashes while the controls and oven doors unlock.

Kitchenaid superba oven stovetop oven door will not open after se

When the oven goes into clean mode the door is automatically locked as a safety feature. I would put it back into clean mode again, let it clean for a while and then hopefully when it cools down the door will open. good luck .

Kenmore oven locked

Hello dktshopping,
I know you probable don't want to hear this but in you circumstance, I think you would be better off to contact a repair professional. Those oven door locks are meant to keep the door from opening during the oven's self-cleaning cycle. They are both mechanically and temperature controlled so that the door can not be opened when the oven is 950 degrees. It sounds to me as though something is not releasing to allowing the locking mechanisim to disengage from the door even though the lever is in the unlock position. The unit will probably have to be taken apaprt to remedy the problem. Good luck.

Oven Light does not turn off

The problem is due to a faulty door switch, this is part of the door lock mechanism. The reason is that the oven thinks the door is open , this puts on the light and stops some of the oven functions ie the fan the fan element and probably the bottom element.
The answer is to fit a new door lock mechanism.

Oven door open

Turn the operating mode dial to self-clean, then manually hold in for about 20 seconds the light pin on the oven rim. The lock will eventually open after 20 or so seconds. Turn off the operating dial and the door will close.
