I bought this model about a year & a half ago in order to dub my vhs tapes from our camcorder archives.
Problem #1 - I can make the dub, but I was disappointed that there is no way to edit on the fly - like to pause the copying and resume when the vhs reaches the next scene that i want to record.
Problem #2 is that once recorded, I was hoping to be able to edit it on my pc - but my editing software does not read it, and there is no info on what it needs to be converted to to be used that way.
Need advice on how to edit the created dvd - what codec, what software, what conversion, etc.
I have a PC that runs vista, and came with Windows DVD Maker, Windows Movie Maker, and InterVideo WinDVD.
HELP!!
thanks, Autumn

Its macrovision. You need a macrovision killer or a Go video. I am not promoting you to buy that but that would take care of the problem
SOURCE: want to dub
Protected tapes cannot be copied to DVD on this machine.
The only way is to connect the VCR to a separate DVD recorder with a special cable to remove the Macrovision protection.
These cables were readily available on the internet, but I have no more details.

Hello,
Saw your request this morning.
Take note, sometimes our email alert system to we experts does not notifiy us about requests or questions you may pose later regarding this post of yours.
What patch cables, if any are you using now for audio? If there are ports on the back for audio out and audio in for DVD? Currently, are you using the internal circuitry to dub over to DVD from VCR?
Regards,
Worldvet

You need to go into the set up menu and select recording options. On the recording options menu, scroll down to dubbing options. On the dubbing options menu select either VCR to DVD or DVD to VCR.
Recording and Dubbing are not the exactly the same thing. You use the record buttons to record TV directly to VCR/DVD you use the dubbing buttons and set up to record DVD to VCR or VCR to DVD.
Hope this helps.

If the record mode of the original hdd recording was set for 2hr or 3hr mode, you will not be able to fit any more on the disc.
