Keyboard losing print on letters that are used a lot

I have a gateway wireless keyboard, and some of the letters I use a lot for typing are losing their print. Luckily I know where the keys are, or I would be up a creek without a paddle...I would like to know the easiest way to fix the problem- would it be easier to just purchase a new keyboard?

Depends on how much you want to pay...and how much the "look" of the keyboard matters to you. You can just order keyboard stickers, both black and transparent (and colors, for that matter, even Hello Kitty) from various sites, usually under $10.

Try using a different keyboard and see if the problem continues. If it does not, then your best bet is to purchase a new keyboard, unless your computer is still under manufacturer warranty.

have you tried replacing the batteries in your Wireless keyboard? it could be that simple as the wireless may be dieing if there is not enough power to send the information of what your typing.. Try this before you change your configurations in Windows.

Hope this helps,

Typing numbers instead of letters

Your keyboard has "extra" keys:
* print-screen / system-request
* scroll-lock
* pause / break
* num lock

Press that "num lock" key.
For a laptop keyboard, you may have to hold down the 'FN' key,
at the same time that you press "num lock", to enable/disable this function.

Gateway laptop keyboard typing incorrect letters

Windows has support for many input-languages, e.g., for keyboards made in France with accented characters,
and for the DVORAK keyboard layout (which is a complete
rearrangement of the letters on the keyboard for maximum
typing-speed).

Go into "Control Panel", and "Regional and Language" and click the "Language" tab, and switch to the "USA Keyboard".

Hi, I have a gateway wireless keyboard and some of the keys are losing their letter print. I am glad that I know which letters are which, but is there something I can do without having to buy a new...

You could use something like white out to repaint the letters on the board and then invest in a plastic cover/protector for the board. With the protector in place it will prevent further letter wear. Hope this helps.
