Nobody except repairman who fixed our GE XL 44 gas oven seems to know this, but a GLOWING IGNITER does NOT always IGNITE GAS.... As they age, their bright, cheery glow is not up to flash point or something... My Frigidaire Gallery has had occasional "cold runs" yet occasionally lights; today took out old igniter, and it reads 69 ohms resistance, whereas the NEW replacement I just bought, remembering our expensive OVEN repairman measures 49 ohms. Less resistance (49 ohms) means MORE CURRENT, MORE WATTS, and MORE HEAT, which will IGNITE GAS....I don't know why so many people are replacing COILS, THERMOSTATS, etc. without checking resistance of OLD IGNITERS... If ignitor not coming on could be flame sensor mounted on side of burner housing or ignitor ..if ignitor glowing but burner no lighting replace both solenoids bad connections interally on solenoids..also if ignitor not glowing possible small white thermal fuse open.. sensor and fuse can be jumped across to confirm ..
