Brown smudges on clothes

Stacked LPG gas large capacity laundry center is leaving light brown smudge looking marks randomly (looks like light brown makeup smudge) on light colors. Sometimes they are creased with the mark on them other times a smudge. It does come off with a soapy scrub. Model FLSG72GCS0.

I have  Whirlpool electric dryer.  It leaves brown marks on cotton fabrics - they look like marks made by a sharpie pen.  I had a repairman in who told me the marks were from a build up of wax from using fabric softener sheets, and the only solution was to purchase a new dryer, since replacing the drum is tricky.  This makes no sense to me - how could white fabric softener sheets be responsible for brown smudge marks?  The manufacturer even suggests using fabric softener sheets.  Any ideas out there?

Take a look and see if the drum near the door moves up vertically. It shouldn't move more than 3/16ths of an inch. If it does, replace the upper felt seal/plastic slide. The upper seal that supports the front of the drum on the front of the dryer is worn out to the point that clothes can get stuck in the gap between the drum and the front of the machine. This leaves brown wedge marks on clothes. While it's apart, replace the lower felt seal as well.

I have the calypso dryer that leaves random brown streaks on our clothes. Any suggestions

Something like this happens when one of the drum supports wears down leaving a gap between the drum & bulkhead. Clothes can get caught-up in this gap & this will cause the brown marks you see on your clothes. Open the dryer door & look around the front & rear perimeter of the drum, if you can see a gap I recommend replacing the drum rollers. If you aren't comfortable making the repair yourself, you can contact a local appliance repair shop or the manufacturer of your Calypso dryer.

2002 Kenmore front load washer 42042 is leaving large black smudges 3-4 square inches each and streaks, and dot patterned stuff of the same on my clothes. This unit is stacked . Is it repairable for...

Two possibilities come to mind. Too much fabric softener, or
the black rubber door seal. Try rubbing the seal with a paper
towel to see it it smudges. Try cleaning with bleach or alcohol,
then rinse it thoroughly with water.

Usually, if you are getting brown streaks or marks on clothing, one or both of the drum seals are going bad. Clothing will drag between the bulkhead and the drum, leaving brown marks. If you want to do the repair yourself, I can provide instructions, otherwise call for service.

Dryer is occasionally leaving rusty looking smudge marks on clothing.

don't open door (stop dryer) until cool-down and dryer stops. many times the heating element is still hot and when you stop the dryer in the middle of the cycle, the rear of the dryer where the heating element is, will scorch your clothes.

Dryer squeeking while tumbling & leaves black smudge on clothes

it sounds like a drum support roller is going bad or the belt idler pulley. i think maytag has a kick panel on the bottom that can be removed. look inside with a flashlight and you may be able to see something. if not, you may have to take the drum out to get a really good look. make a note and study how the drive belt serpentines around the motor, pulley, and drum so you can get it back together.

Leaving brown/black smudges

This is most likely caused by laundry getting stuck in the front seal of the washer.

Black spots on laundry

your problem may be because you generally use a 'cool' wash ie 30' or 40' Try a really HOT programme or two to see if this will remove the deposits that have built up What happens is that quite a lot of 'undisolved powder' tends to congregate inside the machine because of 'low temperature washes' Its a good idea now & then to use CALGON or some other descaling agent.

Mr CALGON please note my plug but it is good

Frigidaire Dryer Model FLGB43RG

those "burn" marks if they have an arking shape to them are smudges from the felt that goes on the drum support above and bellow the door inside the drier. the felts wear out every five to seven years or so. easy repair. send me a model number and i could go into more detail. part numbers ect.
