SOURCE: Kirby Heritage 2 fan replacement

Take the bag asm. and handle off. Then remove the plastic strip covering the switch, remove the screw there, remove the 3 screws on the housing, turn it over and loosen the screw near the back, the housing should come off. Then remove the screws on the back of the fan casing. You shouild be able to get to the fan, hold the fan and turn the spindle to the right to take off. If it would turn off, then you may have to lock the armature so it can't turn to move it. Then re-asemble in reverse.

I might buy a used Kirby Heritage II , my question is does it have drive tech

Kirby Heritage is not a self propelled vac...but the newer
G series 3-4-5 etc are. This is a rugged fan first vac, expensive to maintain if you are rough on it and bulky to use but it grooms the carpet nicely.
It is also a fan first vac, meaning everything hits the fan before being blown into the bag. Nothing larger than your fingernail should be picked up EVER or you will blow the fan. Maintain it and it should run a long time in wide open areas...

I currently own a kirby heritage II, and love the cleaning power it has, but....it is becoming harder and harder for me to manuever it, do to arthritis. Are the newer kirby's any easier? If so, how much?...

If you are good and familiar with a Kirby, the new generations are self propelled with a transmission BUT may cost you over $1500 US. They will be very familiar but easier to push, yet still vastly overpriced.
You might want to look for a deal on a used or refurb Generation 3-4or 5 or the new G6 in an estate sale or local newspaper. many people buy one then realize they can't run them and sell them off.
Or consider an easier running unit. if you want great quality, mainly for carpet, look for A sebo UPRIGHT
