You accessed the install custom rom feature. It will stay there as it is looking for a software package to be installed. Turn it off. You may need to do a factory restore if when you turn it back in it doesn't work. You held volume down (or up.....i forget which one) and power button simultaneously.

Check to see if there is an update logo showing and/or click to see if you can update it.

I also have the S3 and have not run into this problem before, so I would try the following troubleshooting tips.

Have you checked the software for possible updates? (Go to Settings, then "About phone" and click Software Update). If you are up to date on software, then you can try to reset the unit.

To reset the S3, power it off, take off the cover, and take out the battery. Leave it for about a minute, and then put the battery back in, the cover back on and turn it on.

If all else fails, I would suggest contacting your carrier for further assistance.
