IPod interface acting up

My iPod interface refuses to let me use the "search buttons." All buttons on the left are inactive except for "quick search" when pressing and holding. I have an ipod video updated with the most recent firmware. Mike

You can't use search mode while you have mix enabled. Make sure Mix mode is off

Laptop locks up or goes in sleep mode? You can set that by going to control panel and tick on Power Settings do not mess with the battery defaults I have heard about so many issues with this hibernate and sleep mode I simply just do not use those items ever. Just the way I do it. Change the length of time or un select it all together. I hope that may have helped a bit. John

How to get a WMV file on your iPod

The iPod is not compatible with any video format around. Windows-based formats like WMV and WMA, does not work with software designed by Apple in its iPod. Fortunately, iTunes is a useful conversion tool that can quickly create an iPod compatible version of the WMV file. Once the file is converted, use iTunes to copy the converted WMV to come into your iPod.

1. Open the iTunes software. Click the "File" button on the toolbar and click "Add to Library". Select a file dialog appears.

2. Go to the "WMV" file and click it. Click the "Add" button to copy the WMV file into your iTunes library.

3. Click the entry to WMV in the iTunes library and click the Advanced tab. Click the "Create iPod Version 'from the drop-down with a copy of the WMV MP4 file.

4. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB cable for iPod.

5. Click the converted file and drag it to your iPod in "Devices" entry in the list on the left side of the iTunes interface. iTunes will automatically load the file on your iPod.
This is a solution i found at another site that i think could help you with your probem

Hi

If you still need help with this please do following:

Download and install TrendMicro HijackThis
* Once installed open HijackThis by clicking Start > Programs > HijackThis and click the button labeled
Do a system scan only

* Click the scan button in the lower left hand corner of the interface and HijackThis will quickly scan your system.
* Once the scan is complete the scan button will now read save log. Click this button to save the log file to your PC. Once you select where you would like to save the file it will open in your systems default text editor. Typically this application is Notepad. Post the log here.

The ipod touch has went white!

Hi there,
First try going through this, the 5Rs (well, 6 now!):
http://www.apple.com/uk/support/ipodtouch/troubleshooting/ipodtouch/#

But often the White Screen of Death means there is a problem in the communication between the main board and the LCD.

If your ipod is still under warranty take it to an Apple Store immediately and get it replaced. Tell them that under the Sale of Goods Act you would like a refund or replacement for the iPod as it is clearly not of merchantable quality. If they insist that you make an appointment, refuse and state that you would like a full refund now under the sale of goods act and a refusal by them to give you a refund is in breach of the act. If they still refuse tell them that you will be reporting the matter to trading standards.

If the item is out of warranty then find a cheap ipod repair specialist who may find it to be something very simple. If it's the main board on a 1st gen itouch, thats gonna be expensive. The main board on a 2nd gen or LCD on either are not so expensive.

That's about as much assstance as you will be able to get online I'm afraid.

All the best though,
Sean
