An annoying "2" in the upper rigth corner of my TV.
I have a Samsung LCD tv. Everything is great except for an annoying "2" near the upper right corner. It appears to be on a translucent rectangle. It is not visible when using a DVD player. I have a HD cable box and connect with a HDMI cable. Any ideas about eliminating the "2"? Thanks, Mike

Not good. You may have a tab failure. A repair shop may be able to diagnose and repair this, but most likely the lcd panel is broken. The panel is the most expensive part of flat tv's. A new panel will cost more than a used tv.
i had a tv of mine make an annoying ringing sound I found it to be a fixed coil that was supposed to be held still with hot glue if i touched it with the plastic end of a screwdriver the sound went away you may have to take the tv apart and touch components one by one with a plastic device to try to locate the noisy part
Had this problem also when I rebooted my Time Warner Cable box. Unplug everything from the wall including power strip and wait 60 seconds then plug back in and turn everything back on. Worked for me and havent had a problem since. Time Warner does not know what causes this yet.
Most remote controls have a "display" button. Pressing that is what gets that channel number on the screen. Try pressing it again and the display should turn off. On some brands the display may cycle through various combinations (channel number only, channell and time, etc.) before it goes away, so it may take more than one press of the button.
well, this didnt really work for me but its worth a try...try unhooking everything from the tv and let it rest for a bit then...then try re-setting it...i was told the re-set code for this tv is mute-182-power...hope it helps!
Because the issue is occurring in multiple brands of TVs, mine is a Samsung plasma, the element that is linking all the issues together is the cable and/or SATELLITE boxes. I have actually called Samsung and they disavow any responsibility for the 2 and say that it is a cable issue. I have to agree. THE SOLUTION is to replace the cable box with a new box. I just did this last week and the 2 was gone. So if you are having this problem then i recommend trying the same thing. REPLACE YOUR CABLE BOX and/or SATELLITE TV BOX AND THE 2 GOES AWAY...at least it did for me.
