Cannot access Facebook's log-in page

Since yesterday, whenever I try to log into Facebook, I get the following error message: Sorry, an error has occurred. We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can."

However, if I type the URL (http://www.facebook.com/common/error.html) into Google, I can get to Facebook's Help Center, from which I can access my Facebook page, without actually logging in. This just started yesterday for no apparent reason and is very frustrating. Any ideas?

How do you contact facebook? This is really getting annoying not bein able to access facebook.

  • cfibula78 Feb 19, 2009

Originally had the problem on 2/5, then after about a week, it worked again for about 4 days. Now I'm back to the same problem. Again, I'm deleting files, cookies, reconfiguring settings, etc, enabling java script and have disabled some scripts at times too and that didn't work, virus scans, etc.. All other sites work. It's the same issue that I see many have. Facebook login, redirecting, freezes and eventually after a few minutes to as much as five minutes it closes and takes all opened sites along with it. It's getting ridiculous already and I'm not changing servers for one site to work. Is facebook legitimate, because with problems like this I can't take this outfit serious. I'm not switching over to google chrome or firefox for one website. They've had some great public relations in February. I'm sorry I joined.

Same problem. I try to log on (enter email and password) and before it opens my home page the screen is white and says "redirecting" at top below toolbar. It freezes up my Internet Explorer and I have to CTRL+ALT+DELETE to get out. My husband can log onto his FB site fine from the same computer, and I can log on using a different computer. Sometimes I can log in from other FB help pages.

  • cfibula78 Feb 19, 2009

Don't know if the login problem is due to going from another pc to a mobile phone. If it's a firewall issue, etc... Was working fine all weekend and when I wanted to add photos, there was a problem. On 2/5, it went down initially when I clicked wall to wall.

The correct shortened URL should behttp://is.gd/R4m8aU, Facebook suggested (and listed)http://is.gd/r4m8au, which is wrong.

Although I would still like to be able to access Facebook using Internet Explorer (and I still am not able to do so), I was able to work around the problem by installing the Firefox internet browser. Using it, I was able to access Facebook without a problem.

Most people are about to discover that sites like facebook have a hidden from the public eye Agenda. They are building public profiles on people all over the world. This service tracks everything you do on the internet. If you use any applications within facebook that application will install a file through macromedia flash player or adobe flash player. Which if you didn't know is necessary on facebook if you don't want freezing and Ctrl-Alt-Dlt going through your fingers every 5min.
Sounds crazy huh, think. My site profiles you by your own fingertips. You do all the work for me, talk about the skinny on your friends. You comment on each other's lives while posting your most intimate thoughts as you get more comfortable with it. You even add your cell numbers , addresses, place of business. You post photos and videos of your children on an unregulated highway with no speed limit and no authority. I have all of your well, everything. I sell your profile. Mainly to the people that are building warehouses for servers that will store it all. They are building them as you read this. Research it and find out. Massive recorders for profiles, including yours. If I sell my company or merge it, all of the entities and company property goes along with it. Your facebook profile is company property. In short, wake up. Don't be a dummy.
They urge you to upgrade your browser or install firefox , both of these are suggested by way of the old "more secure" scare. They are more secure, more securing your info buddies. More hidden files have to be deleted that restore themselves. Need to find out more you can email me. I'm not posting all of that info here. [email protected]

I need your help to access my facebook page.

Point your web browser at http://www.facebook.com

If another account comes up, log out of it by clicking the down-pointing triangle in the upper-right then clicking "Log Out."

If you then still can't log in to your account, click the "Forgot your password?" link located just below the password box on the login page.

If you're getting an error message, what does it say?

Whenever I log in to ...error message. You are using an incompatible web browser. Sorry, we're not cool enough to support your browser. Please keep it real with one of the following browsers: *...

What is the browser you're using? Here are the ONLY compatible browsers for Facebook:
  1. Mozilla Firefox
  2. Google Chrome

  4. Microsoft Internet Explorer
So it's better to use those web browsers for you to be able to use Facebook.

I was on facebook. It now says I need to login, but having problems. What to do?

Facebook disables some 20,000 accounts per day, and it may not even been your fault.

General Instructions for Facebook Login Problems follow:

Clear you cache and enable cookies then get out of your browser and restart it again.

Sometimes when too many people access it, or it sees too many tries to log in ,
Facebook will block your access for 24 hours. You will need to wait and try again-later

If you are getting some sort of a message about your password or log in, try resetting your password from the log in screen.

In other cases a security breech has occurred and you will need to contact Facebook.
At facebook.com

You may have contacted some sort of Virus and you will need to run your Virus checker program.

You may have preformed a forbidden or illegal operation or broken the Terms of Service for Facebook. Contact Facebook At facebook.com.

I am sorry for the problems you are having.

According to article 14 in the Terms of service, Facebook can and has the right to terminate your account at any time.
Thank you for using FixYa

I hope this was useful and please comment if this was helpful to you.

I lost my facebook when I tried to log on with my password. Help

As long as you have your email account, you should be able to log in to FB (use your original message from Facebook if nothing else works. Link can be found from your email by searching Facebook...the first two messages from them).

Knowing that one account is dying, it's time to go to Facebook setting on top right corner and choose ACCOUNT SETTINGS - there you find all options from changing email address to password etc...
