Error code PE on Samsung dishwasher DMR78AHS

My dishwasher has been showing code PE for sometime now. If I power down & restart couple of times, it works ok. It might take 2-3 or even 10-15 restart attempts. Service person guessed the half load motor & switch, replaced that but of no use. Already spent 250 bucks but the service company asking another 250 for the board. Any help appreciated. Sears parts direct sells the main control board for 136$, will that work? Samsung customer service is hopeless once warranty is over. Will not buy Samsung again.

I too have the same problem with my dishwasher. Didn't know about the circuit breaker trick. Will give a try. My husband is ready to throw all our Samsung appliances in the trash. We don't recommend them at all. Re-modeled our kitchen 4 years ago and had all new Samsung appliances installed. What a mistake. In the 1st year we had 2 service calls on the dishwasher, 2 on the stove and 1 on the refrigerator. Have had many problems with the dishwasher. Have been in touch with the company but their approach is you bought it your stuck with it. Thanks for the trick to fix PE error code. I'm NOT getting it fixed. I'll use it till I can't use it anymore then go buy something else.

SOURCE: Had a Samsung DMT800RHS dishwasher installed by

Hi. We have the same problem. Dishwasher was installed about 3 months ago. There is an easy 'temporary' fix.

Completely turn off the dishwasher by flipping the circuit breaker to the off position. Wait a couple of seconds, and flip the circuit breaker back to the on position.

The dishwasher console must be getting into a bad state and not sensing the console panel buttons. The circuitry in the dishwasher is never really "off" as some amount of power has to be "on" to be ready to sense the touch panel. Turning the circuit breaker off and back on likely resets all the functions and makes the unit operable. We have been operating the dishwasher this way for about a month now. Luckily for us, the circuit panel is 3 steps away from the dishwasher...but this is getting old.

Hopefully this solves your problem ... reply back here one way or another...if this turns out to be a common problem & solution,it will give me more faith that Samsung will be convinced of a problem when I call them after the holidays.

SOURCE: LE Code Help - DMR57 Series

I had the same problem. On the bottom of the unit is a tray the catches any water that leaks from the tub. In the tray is a sensor that shuts off the unit and water if it get wet. Take the tray off and see if water is in it. If so, you have a leak somewhere. You might be able to dry off the sensor and get it to work but if you have a leak, you want to know. Best way to check is put the dishwasher up on two milk crates, leave the tray off and turn it on the rinse cycle and see if any water drips.
On my first unit, the rubber seal was installed wrong at the factory. They replaced the seal, but the error came up again. When checked out, the tub was leaking too. The dishwasher was replaced with another one. After one wash, the same problem occurred. LE error. I took it back and got a different Samsung model. It just stopped working after only two weeks. Evidently the touch pad sensors are bad because it will not turn on. Needless to say I'm getting tired of installing dishwashers. I think I will go for a different brand.

SOURCE: SE error code on Samsung dishwasher

Here are the error codes from Samsung's website:

Error Codes spacer.gif If your dishwasher is displaying an error code, please refer to your users manual for an explanation. If you don't have your users manual on hand, you can download it from Samsung's Download Center. To go to the Download Center and download the users manual for your dish washer, click here.
Common error codes caused by installation errors are:

  • 5E which indicates a kinked or bent drain hose
  • 4E which indicates that the water supply valve is closed or not fully open
  • LE which indicates a leak.
I hope that this helps!

SOURCE: I have a DMT300rfw samsung dishwasher. The other

I just had this same problem, and I think I figured it out. There was water on the bottom from the last cycle, so I pressed HEAVY and DELICATE at the same time for 3 seconds (you'll see it printed on the control panel), and the unit drained. I was then able to start the new cycle normally without the error. Hope that helps!

How do I fix -no power issue on my samsung dmr78ahs dishwasher?

To eliminate a dishwasher problem, run a heavy 3 pronged extension cord from a known working outlet to the dishwasher and plug the dishwasher into the cord. If you still have no power (dishwasher is not showing any signs of life) then it is a dishwasher problem (circuit board, bad connection from dishwasher cord to dishwasher, etc).

If the dishwasher actually shows signs of life, then you may have a tripped breaker. Check the breaker to make sure it is on and that the tab is not either in the center or the off position. Also, try moving the dishwasher cord's plug from the outlet it is currently in to another outlet in the under sink area. There is a chance that the plug got switched from the normal outlet to the outlet that controls the garbage disposal, that outlet should only be hot when the disposal wall switch is flipped to the on position.

HOW TO FIX LE ERROR CODE ON SAMSUNG DISHWASHER DMR78AHS

An LE error code on your dishwasher stands for "LEaking."

There is, what I call, a drip pan on the bottom that the water is dripping into. Remove your dishwasher and take off the lower the side panels to get a look inside the drip pan. If you have water in there, try to find out where it's coming from.

If there are no signs of water, tip the dishwasher over on its side and remove the plastic panel on the bottom of the dishwasher. Once removed, you can disconnect the connector to the leak sensor (it's mounted upside-down, with 4 wires coming out of it. If I remember right, the wires are blue and red).

Flip the dishwasher back upright and plug it in and see if your LE error code pops back on. If it pops back on, then you have a bad board. If it doesn't, then you either have a leak, or the "fangs" on the leak detector are shorting out, somehow.

Good luck!

Error code He

he error code is a heating error. check the wire connections to the heater, if no problem then you need to check for continuity to the heating element. You'll need a meter to do this. The heater assembly may need replacing. I think they run around $60. We had a Samsung DW for 4 years...finally gave up & replaced with a GE which has been working well.

I would never in my life buy a Samsung dishwasher again. only three years old and PE error code comes back after having service tech out 6 times to replace parts weve been without a dishwasher for 6 m

We have had constant problems also...even went as far as taking the dishwasher apart. Did somewhat fix one problem by removing a piece of plastic that had gotten into the water pump. It still wasn't "right" so we talked with Lowe's about our problems and they finally agreed to sell us another dishwasher at a greatly discounted price and offered free installation. It was installed yesterday. It's a GE, not as "pretty" as the Samsung but hopefully it will actually wash the dishes.

DMR78AHS error code HE

Hi, the HE codes refer to temperature errors. The HE codes refer to heater problems. These are all functional errors that require a certified service technician, but disconnecting the circuit breaker in the meantime can prevent the problem from growing worse.
