Power button need to be replaced. Common failure on samsung phones.

Sometimes the software is damage so I suggest u download the stock firmware and install it through Samsung kies

Use Samsung kies and that will do the trick

Check youtube. Be better off to take it to a local phone shop though. Sometimes it's easy, but sometimes the digitizer is glued to the glass. (S4 for example) and then you're in worse than you were before.
You may have a temp fix if it's just the glass cracked by putting a screensaver over it, which will smooth out your contact surface and protect your finger from glass. shards.
It can be cheaper to just by another Android on Craigslist.;) Good luck!

Make sure you're editing in proper phone No format.

if you have dropped it or hit it on anything it may be the LCD screen cracked which is basically the touch screen it may respond to touch but that doesn't mean there isn't an internal crack

Take battery out, put it back. If not working, check the screen for cracks. believe it or not, most of the broken screens happens when sleeping.

To do this, connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable and then follow the prompts on the cell phone to enable USB access. Then on your Windows computer Navigate to 'My Computer' and you will see a new device corresponding to your phone storage.
