The power/standby red light is on when the receiver is off like it is supposed to be but when i turn it on, the complete system turns off...even the red light

Hi, I don't have the manual with me. I found KLH R 5100 with user manual in the following link. Tray to contact them. OK http://www.ebay.com/itm/KLH-R-5100-Receiver-Hi-Power-/250902259353
The KLH R5100 only supports standard definition.
You would connect either composite (yellow) or S-video to the "Sat" connection on the rear of the receiver. For audio you would connect a stereo (red/white) analog connection to the same "Sat" connection.
use component audio to the HDTV and optical audio to your KLH reciever. The component and optical are always active at the same time. I work for TWC if you have more questions.
