SOURCE: Whirlpool oven

if you get down to the control panel first try plug and unplugging all the connectors as resistance can cause this in the connectors next take the Mylar ribbon off the control and clean it softly with a pencil eraser as the touch pad malfunction can cause now if you have an ohm meter you can ohm the oven probe it should be 1200 ohms at 70 degrees room tempture if all this fails to fix it then replace the controls bd ive seen too many techs too quick to replace a 200.00 control board just because the eoc spouts out an error code

SOURCE: changing oven light bulb

The manual states to turn the cover counter clockwise. I was able to turn it about an inch and then it stopped turning. You really have to apply pressure, but it will turn more. It is similar to a tight light fixture. I was worried about breaking it, but it did finally loosen. I believe the replacement bulb is a 40 watt mini oven bulb also...

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: whirlpool electric range won't work

We read on another site that sometimes an electical surge messes something up and that if you unplug the range for a few minutes it will reset. So we unplugged our range and when we plugged it in again it worked fine.

Exterior glass trim on Kenmore Electric Range 880-5981

While waiting for someone else to answer my question, I fiddled around with the door parts. I managed to reassemble them! Here's how:

1. start with the glass panel. Slide the glass panel into the slot at the bottom of the front door frame on the stove.

2. next attach the handle. There are slots on the bottom of the handle that fit into the top of the glass panel. Slide the handle slots into the top of the glass panel.

3. screw the handle onto the oven door using the predrilled holes on the inside face of the oven door.

4. last, attach each of the two side trim strips. Slide the top of each strip into the bottom of the handle on each side of the oven door. Then slightly bend the strip outwards so that they are short enough to fit into the bottom slot of the oven door frame on each side of the glass panel.

The Glass from the front of the oven door is off.

the glass on this door, is held up only by the lower trim, and sits behind the handle escution(very small contact point) as far as the trim for sides, the slip under top esctution, and behind the door glass(sorta keep the glass from contacting the metal frame of door.} much easier to do with door off of unit, refer to manual as how to remove the door if needed
