Hey, my uncle has just sent me a sidekick 2 for my birthday and it wont turn on, it doesnt have a charger as he found it in a council tip. i've tryed to charge it in my computer with a usb cable but it still wont turn on, i've also tryed to plug a blackberry charger in the port that it fits into it still wouldnt turn on. what else can i do to turn my sidekick 2 on?

Sounds like you unit is not charging. The Sidekick ID's are notorious forthat. If you have a friend that has a sidekick ID or Sidekick 3, see ifyou can try their battery to make sure you phone is working ok.

If so, your best option is to get an external charger that has a sparebattery slot That way you can charge the battery outside the phone!They run about 25-30 dollars on ebay. an extra battery is a good idea so you can have one charger at all times.

Try this, though is used for when the device is randomly rebooting aswell, it might help you to force your Sidekick to come back on:

1. Check the device's battery level for at least two bars of strength.
2. If the battery level is low, charge the battery.
3. If the issue is not resolved, remove the back cover.
4. Remove the battery.
5. Wait 10 seconds.
6. Press and hold the W key.
7. While pressing down the W key, re-insert the battery.
   • The device restarts and after approximately 15 seconds, the 'Recovery' screen appears.
     
     
     
     
8. Select the desired language.
9. Select Reboot to restart the device.
10. Your Sidekick should go back to the main screen as normal. Good luck

Sounds like your charger port is busted. Ti is a common problem on sidekick 3 and can effect sidekick IDs as well. A fairly cheap workaround is to get an external battery charger. It will have a slot to charge the sidekick battery external formthe phone. They sell on ebay fior about 25 dollars.

The sidekick ID and sidkeick 3 batteries are the same so it will work. Check then out here

Sorry to hear that. The Sidekick 3 is notorious for the charging port getting busted.

If you take it apart, you can see that it is soldered in 5 places to the motherboard. Maybe one of those solder joints came loose.

Another option is to get a charging cradle that has a spare battery charging slot. They go for about 30 dollars shipped on ebay. This will allow you to charge your battery external from the phone or if you have an extra battery , have one charging at all times.

Now HeresWhat you do. you Need to find out if you blew all the circuts in the phone or just the one for the charger port, Find Some One With A Sidekick Test the battery in your phone make sure its fully charged, If your Phone Comes on the rest of the circuts are fine, if it doesnt you need a new mother board. You'll need to contact T-Mobile customer service by dialing 611 to see what they can do for you. They're the ones who would make the decision about sending you a new phone.

dnt drain the batteries of your phones...if that happens pls buy multicharger or battery shock,remove the battery..... charge it for about 5min or shock the battery if ur using battery shock...be sure u positioned it ryt....den put it back on ur phone then charge it or continue the charging on the multicharger until its full !!!!im pretty sure of it....im encountering the same prob as urs before and thats what i did and it work!!!!
