Samsung RS2555SL humming noise

We experienced a problem about 10 days ago when the water dispenser stopped working. We replaced the filter, but still no water. That same night, we had a brief power outage (5 second?) The next morning, I noticed the milk was not a cold as it normally is straight from the appliance. I then observed that the temp indicators for both sides were blank. The bottom right part of the fridge side 8 display had the | showing. I did some searching and found by pushing the Power Freeze and Power Cool buttons at the same time for a few seconds and then the compressor came on and cooled the fridge. I wanted to get the temp back down ASAP so when the cooling started again, I hit Power Freeze and Cool to speed up the process. Now, I am hearing a low pitched hum that stops when I open the fridge (not the freezer). When I open the door, the sound resembles an air compressor coming to slow stop. I took the back service panel (the lower one) off and looked at the fan (next to the compressor tank). It is running fine and not hitting anything. My wife opened the door as the humming stopped and the fan and compressor were running quietly. Is there fan that brings freezer air into the fridge that could have frozen condensation causing the problem? If so, where is it and how can I fix it? What else could cause this? TIA

Well, I tried taking the the housing where I'm hearing the fan noise off. No luck - I can't get to the fan. Plus, I'm really loosing cooling on the fridge side.

I'm unloading the whole works and letting it thaw out with the doors open and see if that works.

Don't know this model specifically, but have had loads of problems with these samsung fridge-freezers. the no water in drinks dispensor is probably due to the water bottle at the bottom of the fridge being frozen. this is endemic with samsung the noise you hear is ice hitting fan. samsung use two systems for fan. the one i think you have is separate fans for fridge and freezer and a separate evaperator for fridge and freezer. take of the back plate of the fridge and you will find the fan mounted in it. disconnect the plug and socket connection. you will probably find ice build up round the fan blade. melt off with hot water. the bar you had showing on the "8" is a fault code - the most common fault being the defrost termination sensor. unless you are experienced, this is not really a diy appliance

letting the whole lot thaw out should work but you still have to get it fixed. these samsung are a problem from bitter experience having done lots. the culprit is almosr certainly the defrost system

Water dispenser makes noise and water stops coming out

You guys probably have water with lots of sediment in it.
Install a larger sediment filter on the line going in to the refrigerator or even better to install one at the point of entry to your house.

A whole house sediment filter will make sure that all water coming into the house is free of particulate matter. This will make your water using appliances like the refrigerator filter, dishwasher, water softener, faucet aerators...etc last way longer.

Just bought a used westinghouse RJ275M fridge. It seems to work fine except for the noise - it has a low hum and rattling noise.

It can be compressor fan noise, may be motor getting overheated and causing noise. It has to be inspected.

Before going to buy any parts directly.

My Whirlpool ED22DQXEW01 Water Dispenser was working just fine, when one day it just stopped. I could hear humming so it was trying to dispense water, but nothing came out. The icemaker was still getting...

The humming noise is a defective coil that opens the water valve. When they weaken that begin to vibrate and hum because they don't have the strength to open the water valve. The replacement part number is 2188542. Let me know if you need any more help Sea Breeze

My Samsung 50" DLP HDTV keeps humming when the DLP lamp comes on.

Hi, you have one of two problems, either the color wheel is going or one of the cooling fans are going, the color wheels are a very common problem in samsung dlp`s, sorry I can`t nail it to a specific part but I`d bet it`s the color wheel as they are notorious for failing in samsungs, video-tek

Water dispenser in my Maytag french door refer has suddenly stopped working. We use it every day and the filter seems to be fine. It almost sounds like it is frozen. Please Help!!!

We have a hd2560 (bot 10/04), french door with inside water dispenser and it had stopped working a year ago, but started working a few months later. I couldn't figure out what happened, but suspected the water line was frozen. I later found out that the water reservoir is located behind the fruit and vegetable bins, so look there to see if the water is frozen.

Two weeks ago, our frig/compressor stopped cooling after making humming/clicking sounds for weeks. Fortunately, Maytag has a 5 yr parts & labor warranty on the compressor, so we were covered. Evidently, there are quite a few faulty compressors out there.

I believe that the compressor had been over-cooling in the past and caused the water lines/tank to freeze. This would also cause frozen produce/fruit. I would immediately contact Maytag/Whirlpool if you suspect a faulty compressor as well.
