I've misplaced my owner's manual for the same compressor. Where can I find a new one online since that would be easier than finding one at Sears?

You should be able to find the manual online if it's available if not Sears would I'm sure be able to tell you.

Go to this page and scroll down and you'll see a bottle of Sears Craftsman 2 Stage Compressor Oil
    http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605...

May be able to get an Owners Manual there also, check with customer service at the top or bottom of the page, I searched all over there and online and could not find one.

Found an article about Sears not having copywrites to documentation for another compressor therefore they weren't able to provide it for download. The company that actually manufactured it for Craftsman would be able to provide it. How do you find that out would be by calling Sears would be your quickest sure bet I think. What level should the oil be in the view sight and what type of oil should be used to fill if needed?

Your oil level should be right in the middl of the sight glass as per the type of oil I'm sure Craftsman has there brand of oil they suggest. But any good quality compressor oil will work.

My new 80 gallon Craftsman Professional air compressor's oil turned dark right away. I changed the oil and it happened again. Is there a problem? Thanks, Trevor

Problem sounds like the type of oil being used. The oil should be a gold color. It will get dark over time but not like oil in a car. Check your owners manual to be sure that the right oil is being used.

Compressors use a 30 weight non detergent oil. If you don't have a manual Go to any Sears Home and garden Department and they will be able to help you.

I have a 3 gal/ 1HP Craftsman air comp. When I plug it in and turn it on, I get the sound of current getting to the motor but it does not start. A failed Starting capacitor?

Could be, do you have a capacitor checker? It sounds like you have a compressor locked up. Do you have oil in the compressor? If the compressor is new I would take it back and see if it is still under warranty. before I did any thing to it.....

I just bought a used Craftsman air compressor at a garage sale...100PSI, twin cylinder, 1HP motor. Model # 106.154440. Runs fine, but wondered how to check the oil level in the compressor case and if it...

I have a Sears 106.154581 most likely like yours. You will find a small plug (fill hole) and slightly larger plug on side of pump close to bottom (drain hole). Fill compressor with compressor oil to top thread of fill hole. Oil should look rather clear with very little odor. Compressor oil is available at Lowes for about $3. Good luck

I have a Craftsman 3 gallon 1HP air compressor that will only build pressure up to 25psi. The check valve was checked and looks ok. The pressure regulaor appears to be working ok. Bled off tank.The...

Sounds like the compressor has failed -- probably the valve -- tear down and rebuild is probably the solution, or replace compressor, or just buy another unit. My nature would be to tear it down and see what's going on.

Oil capacity for craftsman air compressor circa 1978 model #106..

I have a 2hp craftsman air compessor with a two cylinder pump, Here is the info from my manual as far as oil capacitity:

Remove oil fill plug and slowly add
a compressor oil until it is even with the
top of the oil fill hole. NOTE: Do not
allow oil to be lower than 3/8"
from the top at any time. When filling
the crankcase, the oil flows very slowly
into the pump. If the oil is added too
quickly, it will overflow and appear to
be full. NOTE: Crankcase oil capacity is
approximately 16 fluid ounces.

I buy my compessor oil from Lowes in the tool department. It comes in 16oz and sells for about $3. I wouldnt worry about how many ounces it holds but rather that the oil level is to top of filler hole. Lowes also sells a synthetic oil for about $7 and is recommended for severe conditions (hot / cold / used all day). Good Luck!
