Our ice maker went out but it was still running water. So we replaced it with this model and it says this model is compatible with our freezer. However it is not getting water in it. We can put water in it ourselves and it will harvest the ice. When you use the door to get water you still get water out of the door. Any help would be much appreciated

Hello!
There is a problem in the water dispenser outlet of the freezer, in this case i will suggest call service tech of the freezer and the ice maker so that the system will be personally diagnosed thoroughly to resolved the existing problems.
Service center in your area maybe available and not then the vendor is the right person to contact.

I bought a brand new smartwater replacement filter and after a very short time, my water stopped coming through the door.. took out the new replacement filter and inserted a brand new one .. problem solved.. apparently some of the g.e. smartwater filter replacement cartridges don't have the high enough two plastic inserts which are attached to them at the top of the filter when you screw them on... if you have taken your cartridge in and out a few times, i think it wears down the plastic so it doesn't fit properly and won't put up whatever it is supposed to push up to make the water come through.. I personally think this is a g.e. problem with the replacement filters...

If your ice maker has stopped producing ice completely, check these, in this order:
In either case, the ice maker should begin producing ice again. Also make sure that the temperature is 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly.
