I think I have the same problem (posted 12/26/08). Mine stays on for a while when I turn it on the first time of the day then it 'blinks out' to a gray-black screen with horizontal lines about 1.5" apart moving up and down (kind of choppy). The little green light does NOT blink. If I turn it off and then turn it back on its fine again for a while (anywhere from 2 to 20 minutes) until it does it again. If you find a solution to your problem, please let me know.

Try to look at its circuit board and look for some cold solder

The screen turns blue after about 2 minutes of turning on the TV

Sony TVs has an Optical Block issue. If there is an issue with the optical block, then there will be green, blue patches or tint on the TV display. Try resetting the TV to the factory settings and try Power resetting the TV. Turn Off the TV and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the issue still persists, then TV may require service. You can contact the Customer relations team and check for the available options. Sony had repaired free of cost for such issues. Hence, contact the customer relations.

Mitsubishi VS 50805/60805 blue/yellow shadows on screen

Ok try turning the tv of for 40 minutes by the power point and back on. that way it will reset picture - and should go back to normal please let me now how this goes ((By a rating

Make sure you un plugged it by the power point for the 40 minutes
also make sure there is no speakers or anything magnetic within 60cm's of the tv this can also cause the picture to have strange colors in the screen - if that happens simple do the above

TV screen goes blank but power stays on

Sounds like the CRTs are going into protective blanking due to the vertical output ic needing to be resolderd. Try resoldering the vertical IC that may possibly fix the issue.

Mitsubishi WD-52327 Picture flickers and goes blue

In your case I've seen this and it was a electrical issue between the DLP fan and board. The tv could have a problem with the digital tuner and not kicking a code due to low voltage ... it isn't expensive to fix, just hard to diagnose.

Do you smoke? The fans suck in smoke and it gets tar build up on the connections and that causes this in some cases too.
