Recently, whenever I try to print, the scanner goes crazy. It appears to be "stuttering" although I am not even trying to use the scanner feature. We have unplugged it, re-installed it, you name it but cannot figure out what is making the scanner act up. It appears to start to scan and makes it about 2 inches and goes back- over and over and over. It will not stop until you unplug it. As I said, I am not even trying to use the scanner feature. It will make a copy directly from the glass so things are functioning. Please help! Lynn
I had the exact same problem. this fixed mine.

Firmware problem with unit or a stuck keyboard. This is commomn on the PSC series which includes full scanner head failure. Unplug unit from computer to see if it will do it with no cominication to PC.

exactly the same problem - but having now unplugged from computer and power, it won't initialize at all - the famous 'scanner failure' message. Light appears to be on, but the mechanism seems 'stuck'. Resets have not helped.
