Wiring diagram for emerson 1081 pool motor

Emerson is the motor manufacturer. 1081 is the swimming pool duty motor designation. In other words all pool pump motor manufacturers have a 1081 motor. The mechanical shaft seal is going to be a part of the actual Pool pump itself. The seal is between the seal plate and the impeller. If motor is extremely noisy, then the leak allowed water to get into bearings and cause damage. If the motor is really noisy, or the shaft doesnt spin freely, then you may have damaged motor bearings. The pump manufacturer can usually be identified by markings on parts of pump ( in front of motor ).

and... 1081 does not help!
That just means it's a 'Pool' motor casing.

Emerson is not the name of the pump, that's the brand of the motor attached to the wet end, and the two together make a pump.
1081/1563 only means that it meets the standards for a pool motor.
provide make and model, for your pump.

What Emerson model, serial and or catalogue number do you have? 1081 is the basic and generic code indicating that it meets the standards for a pool motor, that's all.

Well, something is wrong. Either the pump or the wiring from the switch to the pump. Pull the pump and take it to a motor shop and have them check it out.

First you need to remove the wires from the back of your motor and wire nut them off. If the breaker still blows it is probably in the circuit to the motor if not it is probably in the motor and will need a new one unless it is bigger than 2.5HP then it may be worth rewiring. If it is blowing the breaker and is in the motor it is time for a new one.

The motor has a label on it that will give the connections. For a 240V circuit, you should be connecting to the two screw terminals in the back of the motor and a ground to the green screw.
