CPT button on HP Calculator

I am required to find the growth rate of company dividends to answer a problem. I have a HP 10bII financial calculator and my textbook instructs for Texas Instrument directing me to use the CPT button. My calculator does not have one. What button is the CPT button on a HP 10bII financial calculator?

You don't need a cpt button on Hp 10ii calculator. You can just press the function button that you want to apply without pressing cpt first.

What is CPT on TI Calculator

"ComPuTe". On TI financial calculators you have to press the CPT button before pressing the button for the value you're solving for. (N, I, PV, PMT, or FV). On an HP calculator, you just press the N-I-PV-PMT-FV button without making any entry in order to solve for the desired value.

Hi ,I am using HP10bll calculator and there is no CPT button ,I was wondering if there is any other buttons thta I can use instead of that one.Thank You.

You don't need one. Some other calculators require you to press the CPT button and then the button specifying what you want the calculator to compute (PV, PMT, etc). The HP knows whether you've just entered a number or not. If you haven't entered a number, simply pressing the key will compute the value. So for example, if the book says press CPT and then press PMT to calculate the payment, you just need to press PMT.

To calculate the maturity yield I cant find the CPT on my hp10bll calculator nor can I find the I that they use to get the sum

The CPT button is used on the TI calculators to tell the calculator to compute the value instead of storing one. The HP calculator knows whether you just typed in a number or not, and so it can distinguish without the need for such a key. Thus to calculate a particular value after entering the others, you can simply press the key for that value without bothering with any CPT key.

As for the maturity yield, without knowing exactly which value you want, I'm afraid I can't tell you which key to press. Could you reply to this post and specify that? What key do "they" use on what calculator?

Hi: I bought a HP 10bii Financial Calculator. I find it difficult to get a correct answer... For an easy example, I try to find the future value of $100 today after 3 years with an annual interest rate...

What you've done is calculate the future value after 3 months, not 3 years.

Press 1 SHIFT [P/YR] to set the payments per year to one. Now the FV key should give you 115.76

I have a HP 10bII financial calculator. I read that CPT does not apply to this calculator but my numbers are off. Is this correct or am I missing a step on my calculator? Does CPT apply or not?

You can use the I/YR key on the top row to enter/calculate the interest rate.

We can't tell whether your numbers are correct or not without seeing them. Could you post the problem?
