Detach the monitor from the cpu and turn it on. If the same vertical line appears then take it to the repair centre.

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

Try connecting an external monitor to the Dell Inspiron 9300 and see if the vertical line is also present on the monitor. If the monitor display is fine, then your laptop’s LCD display panel is defective. If the monitor also displays the vertical line, then your problem is with either the video card or motherboard located inside your laptop.
Not sure if the Compaq Presario has an external monitor plug, but if it does the above procedure can be applied to that one as well.

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

Hi mikenstacy

Try to connect a normal desktop monitor to the laptop (there will be one vga port where you can connect the monitor) and if you see those lines on external monitor as well then most probably video card has gone bad (you can try to reinstall video drivers in this case) if those lilnes are not there on external monitor then problem is with your LCD so if system is in warranty then get it replaced other wise get in touch with local compter shop and get it replaced.

let me know if this helped

Thin red vertical line length of screen(right side)

Your Display cable (inside your monitor) needs to be replaced.

I would look on ebay to try and find the part and then take it to a local tech to replace it for you as I would not recommend anyone take apart a monitor (LCD OR CRT) if you had never done so before.

OR, Buy a new monitor.

On screen thin yellow and blue vertical lines.

Unfortunately the LCD is going faulty.. one or more of the "Driver" transistors that operates the LCD elements RGB, have faulted ON.. perhaps this link may help fix it. Otherwise :( http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Stuck-Pixel-on-an-LCD-Monitor
