The latest version of Garmin Express provides the ability to install a map update directly to an SD card.
The SD card installation option will only appear when updating a compatible device that does not have sufficient internal memory for the largest allowable map region. When using the SD card installation option, critical files are loaded to the SD card so it must remain in the device after the update to ensure full functionality. For the largest size SD card a device can use, refer to: What is the largest size Secure Digital (SD) card that an automotive device can accept?
The SD card support during the map update will only function with up-to-date software. It may be necessary to update the device's software with Garmin Express prior to updating the maps. These devices do not support the SD card option:
Nissan 700
nuvi 295
nuvi 300 series
nuvi 500 series
nuvi 600 series
nuvi 800 series
nuvi 805 series
nuvi 5000
StreetPilot series
zumo 450
zumo 550
zumo 665
For devices that do not support using the SD card with the map update application, any maps that do not fit in the internal memory can be installed to the SD card manually, using these instructions:
The GZ-MG57 works with SD cards. Your 16GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work in devices not designed to work with SDHC cards. You need to stay with SD cards, 2GB and smaller.
SD cards max out at 2GB and so the largest SD card you can use with this or any other camera is 2GB. SDHC is a later extension to increase card capacity. It is backward compatible in that SDHC devices can also use SD cards, but not forward compatible in that SD devices cannot use SDHC cards.
Hello! Seems the DCS PRO/n do not handel SD cards with HC capabilitys. So the largest SD cars that there is i 4GB. Problems is to find such a card. In reallity 2GB is possible. I recomend You to obtain a CF card instead. I use a 16GB CF and it work like a charm.
The Digilux 2 will work with any SD card, but bear in mind that SD cards max out at 2GB. Larger cards are actually SDHC cards and will not work in the Digilux 2.
The largest SD card you can use is 2GB, but that's only because SD cards only go up to 2GB. You can also use SDHC cards from 4GB to 32GB. You cannot use larger SDXC cards.
Your slot in the iPAQ is a SD slot, not a SDHC slot - therefore it will not read the card. Your PC card is probably a dual reader. The SD cards look the same but are different. Have a read of this...
