Try accessing the BIOS settings and set to a complete initial test (slower startup). If the computer turns off before completing the initial test (POST), then there is an hardware fault. In that case try starting the computer with no battery inside (only charger); try replacing memory modules; disassemble and start the computer with disc units and built in keyboard/pad not connected.
A BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) is an electronic set of instructions that a computer uses to successfully start operating. The BIOS is located on a chip inside of the computer and is designed in a way that protects it from disk failure. A main function of the BIOS
is to give instructions for the power-on self test (POST). This self
test ensures that the computer has all of the necessary parts and
functionality needed to successfully start itself, such as use of
memory, a keyboard and other parts. If errors are detected during the
test, the BIOS
instructs the computer to give a code that reveals the problem. Error
codes are typically a series of beeps heard shortly after startup.
It sounds like the Acer logo has been turned off in the bios settings. As soon as you hit the power button, start tapping the F2 key until you see the test appear "entering setup". Once you are in the BIOS, look for the Logo settings as far as being visible during Boot up. I've seen this setting on other systems so I am thinking the Acer should be similiar.
can you access bios screen (hold f10 during startup)? if so go there and test memory modules (run in test) and this also will test hdd. can you see any blinking/lit leds? then give me more info.

Restart your computer.
When the computer first starts, it
performs the power-on self test (POST). This test checks that all
connected devices are functioning. As part of the POST, the memory is
checked. During the memory test, a message will appear that tells you
how to access the BIOS. For example, you may see the following message
or a similar message that explains how to start the BIOS setup:
PRESS DEL TO ENTER SETUPIn
this example, you must press the DEL key immediately after the memory
test is finished to start the setup process. You may have to press the
key several times to make sure that you access the BIOS setup.
Tip There are other keys that may provide access to the BIOS. They include the following:
F1
F2
F10
CTRL+ENTER
ALT+ENTER
CTRL+ALT+ESC
CTRL+ALT+INSERT
If you are not sure how to access the BIOS setup, see the user manual for your computer's motherboard.
Look
for the Set BIOS as Default settings. You can usually use the arrow keys to move through the menus
and settings.
The CRC error (POST = power on startup test) on boot up refers to the BIOS settings. This could be cause by a near flat BIOS battery and it needs to be replaces. If it is not the battery you need go to the BIOS to correct any faulty settings.
Welcome to FixYa! Delete is the BIOS setup key at POST. F12 is a one-time boot option. Safe mode is accessed by repeatedly pressing the F8 key at the first Windows splash screen. Post again if you have further questions. Steve
