Go to the internet and search for Power Point Viewer. I believe that Office standard doesn't come with Powerpoint either that or the *.pps file type doesn't have powerpoint as the program to start it.

Am confused regarding what to download for simple power point viewer use when receiving e-mail with "pps" attachments. Will appreciate recommendations.

Hi,

If you wish to view Power Point (.pps) attachments you receive in your e-mail, you need to download and install the Microsoft Office PowerPoint Viewer 2007 which you can download by clicking this link.

Also, please be careful while opening PowerPoint documents you receive in email because a lot of viruses are transmitted these days along with .pps documents. So, only open PowerPoint attchments from contacts whom you know.

Hope this solves your problem. Thanks for using FixYa

Any email file I receive that has a pps attachment I cannot open

Ill ask the obvious first, do you have Microsoft Powerpoint installed? If you dont, you can download a free PPS viewer. Just Google "PPS Viewer" , download and install it. If you do have PowerPoint, then try saving the pps file to your computer locally and try opening it? Please always post your questions with as much details as you can. What email client are you using? Gmail, Yahoo, Thunderbird, Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail, etc. Its hard to answer questions with hardly any info. Thanks!

Windows mail and powerpoint viewer

From windows mail choose Options Then Security Tab. You can change some security behavior here for allowing viewing of attachements, however it will only work for certain file types. Others are prohibited regardless. IT's a measure Microsfot feels is protecting folks forcing them to save the file then open it. This allows Antivirus programs to fully scan the file before use. But it's fairly impractical.

If you get frustrated with WM, you might try Thunderbird from Mozilla.com Its free and far more flexible and robust than WM.
