My 6500 HP Printer jammed while printing. The paper was torn up really bad. I pulled it out and now everything that I print has a black line in it the whole way down the page on the left 1/3 of the paper. The line is not solid but each segment is about 1/2 inch long. I have a ton of invoices to print. Help! This has been a good printer.

No cleaning was successful, finally replaced the printhead and solved the problem.
SOURCE: printer prints a line across the paper around three inch from the left hand side of the page.
Check your Toner Carts.
Is the line a certain color?
Black perhaps?
Lift the door of the toner cart.
If you see a streak on your toner drum, you will see a streak on your paperwork.
Look at your fuser as well.
Is there a problem with the big orange roller?
BEWARE! Don't touch the fuser roller its EXTREMELY HOT!
Let the printer cool down before inspecting.
SOURCE: Paper feed problem from both tray 1 & 2
There is a long set of sensor flags on the bottom of the paper input unit that can get stuck and not move freely. This will cause jams from both trays. Try unplugging the printer, removing the toner cartridges and tray 2. Turn the printer on its back or side. You will see a long, black plastic bar with flags on it that runs the length of the paper input unit. make sure it moves freely.
