I have a good-sized 70s-era table fan with push buttons (it may be a GE, I can't remember and can't get to it right now). It has 3 push buttons on the base. As long as I hold a button down, the fan works, but none of the three buttons will stay engaged by itself. How do I fix this?

I can't see any reason why a Leviton fan speed control couldn't be used on any ceiling fan, after all, I don't even think Leviton makes ceiling fans. Second, you may be able to try using the 1.5 amp fan speed control and see if you can get by. The worst that could happen is the speed control wouldn't work or would only work for a short time and be junk.

I've never heard of the light and reverse buttons being reversed. Normally It's the fan and light thats swapped (but your aware of that already). I would try a working w-32 from one of the other fans. There's also a shop called Fan Man Lighting in Minnesota who has a guy named Jason who has been fixing fans for over 20 years, He helped me with my Casa problems. Their website is www.FanManLighting.com Hope this helps.

unplug the fan then remove the batteries from the remote then plug the fan back in and, reinstall the batteries; this resets the fan control

Not sure if this addresses your problem or not, but with my Minka Aire ceiling fans, the fan has to be moving in order to change the fan direction. Turn the fan on (any speed works), then push the reverse button. The fan will speed up to max, then you'll hear the gears switching. The fan will slow to a stop, change directions and get back up to speed in the new direction.
