Proper fraction e.g. 3/5, input 3, divide, 5, =, answer 0.6

Improper fraction, either enter as improper fraction, or enter the whole number first, then +, then the proper fraction as before, then =.

E.g. 8/5 which is "1 and 3/5': enter 1, +, 3, "divide", 5 =, answer is 1.6

Or, just 8, "divide", 5, same 1.6 answer. Why go to mixed number first?

13/5 which is "2 and 3/5", enter 2, +, 3, "divide", 5, =, answer is 2.6. Or, just 13/5, same answer

Reduce this tothe lowest terms 711over 22

The fraction 711/22 is an improper fraction (the numerator is greater than the denominator).
While there is nothing incorrect about this, an improper fraction is typically simplified further into a mixed number.
The whole number part of the mixed number is found by dividing the 711 by the 22. In this case we get 32.

The fractional part of the mixed number is found by using the remainder of the division, which in this case is 7 (711 divided by 22 is 32 remainder 7).

The final answer is: 32 7/22

Mixed numbers

If the result is positive, type in the integer part then add the fraction part either with the help of the fraction key or the division key. (I do not think that the TI82 has a fraction key.
If it is anything like the TI3 there is command under MATH >Frac. It should be pressed after you enter the mixed number to keep the result as a fraction.
If the mixed number is negative you enclose the whole number in parentheses. Press the change sign (-) key to negate the result.

How do you enter mixed numbers ( whole numbers and fractions i.e 3 3/4)?

You cannot, you must enter 3.75. If you can't figure out what the fraction is, you must first compute the fraction (3/4=.75) and then add it to the whole number (3+.75=3.75)
