PXE-E61 ERROR
The error PXE-E61: Media test failure usually means the hard diskhas failed or the hard disk needs re-seating or the disk controller is faulty.First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.Next - to check if the harddrive is faulty, remove the hard drive and insert it into an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a workingcomputer's USB port. If this computer cannot see itas an USB mass storage device and you cannot open the various folders and fileson this drive, then this confirms the hard drive is faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

The hard drive may just need reseating to make it work, failing that the hard drive is either faulty or the had disk controller is faulty.
To test the hard drive, remove it and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and then plug it into a working computer's USB port, if you see this drive as a external drive and can see the contents of the hard drive the it is OK.
If the hard drive isn't recogonized then the hard drive is faulty and you need to get a new hard drive for your laptop and install Windows, the drivers and your programs etc.

E-E61 media test failure check cable pxe-mof exiting pxe rom. operating system not found. how do i find it

Hard drive lost communications with motherboard. Remove it and reseat it. Check BIOS if it sees the HD.

Disable PXE boot in BIOS or remove from 1st boot option. This is a LAN (network) boot option. It can't find a DHCP server, that's why the media test failure is displayed. It's usually used to load an OS image from network.

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error if this fails to fix the problem
another possible reason could be a memory dump you might be running to many programs at the one time placing to much strain on the CPU also you might not have enough RAM random access memory to check what is running when your computer is running scroll to the bottom toolbar right click select task manager applications and processes if you see something you dont need running select end now to check how much ram you have click start right click on my computer select properties you will see all of your computers details another way to check how much RAM you have click start all programs accessories system tools system imformation all of your computers imformation will be there try uninstalling a few unnecessary programs then click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to fix any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive this will schedule on a restart don

If the sound you are referring to is a clicking sound, then it is a hard drive failure.
Your computer is trying to boot up the operating system from the hard drive, but when it fails to access the hard drive, it tries to boot up from other devices configured on the BIOS. Apparently, your next choice for booting the operating system is set to the LAN card. Hence, you get the message "PXE-E61 Media test failure", which means that the computer tried to boot up the operating system over the network but it found out that your network cable is not connected to your computer's network interface card.

My d620 got a slight knock now all thats comes up is pxe-e61 media test failure check cable and pxe-mof exiting pxe rom.and operating system not found

This code is idicative of the hard drive not being read. PXE is the code for the computer trying to boot from a network drive because it cannot find the hard drive. Take the hard drive out and try to re-seat it. When it was knocked it may have unseated the hard drive or the drive has failed.
