Dell 922 printer giving error code 1200

When I turn on my Dell 922 printer the ink carridge jumps back and forth once violently then I get an error 1200, remove obstruction, cycle power. I tried this and still does same thing. I took new ink cartridges out and put back in--still same thing. Any idea? It is out of warranty and I don't want to spend $39 for an answer--I'll just buy a new printer--maybe HP this time because buying ink online with DELL is a pain in the bootie.

I get error 1200 and print carrier stall.  The carrier moves fine when I turn it on, in fact it slams to the right!  Will not print at all!

Get non dell replacements - dell online and dell generally can be the worst customer service and expensive - but print refillers (good ones ) will have a stock of cartridges and sell them at reasonable prices - be green don't keep buying new printers...

Error 1200 continues despite cleaning tape and carrier bar

Hi
Ok you can try this.
Error code: 1200
This error code is commonly associated with the Dell 922 printer. Usually you might see the cartridge moving front and back and slamming itself against the printer. You need to tighten the strings located on the back of the printer and then it should work fine

Clean the carriage rail. This is the round chrome piece that the carriage assy that holds the cartridges rides on. Use a paper towel that is slightly moist.
Be sure to not force anything. Unplug the printer after you get the carts in the middle. Move them to one side and clean and then move them to the other and repeat.

Lift up the scanner to reveal the cartridge compartment; under the chrome rod on which the cartridges run there are two small gaps about 8cm apart. In the right one should sit the paper sensor which is a small black rod that hooks downwards; the problem I had was my sensor had bent up and out of the gap so all I had to do was bend it gently back into position using a small screwdriver.

Hope you get it to go.

Error message 1200 Dell AIO 922 printer

Buy and HP. Seriously though, you can look in the printer and should see a small thin plastic strip that looks tinted and sits behind the path of the print cartridge carriage. This strip has many vertical lines the printer counts to know it's position on the path. If this is dirtied with ink, a common problem, the printer can skip lines due to an inability to shine light through and count them. If this look inky, wipe it with a damp paper towel and COMPLETELY dry it. Unplugging the printer while the carriage is in motion will give you the ability to slide if freely. Good luck.

Error 1200 carrirer slams back and forth... cleaned chrome rail checked for obstructions ...nothing :(

Either the plastic strip that goes behind the carriage assembly is missing or so dirty it can't read it. If it's still in you can clean it with a damp Q-tip, if missing you need a shop.

Ink cartridge

Not quite sure what you mean but if it is stuck under the housing then that would give the error. Could it be that the cartridge wasn't installed straight and this has caused it to become jammed?
