I have run auto at least 10 times. 130+ channels takes a long time. but when the scan is done - a box with the words "please run channel setup auto scan" stays on screen. I have repeatedly run the auto scan and the message box "Please....auto scan" keeps coming back. How do I get rid or stop the "auto scan" request? We have charter cable tv.

FIRST, you must check ALL antenna connection, and if possible, try another "Known Good" antenna system. If it proves that the antenna system is all OK, then I fear your Tuner, has failed, this is a common event, that I get from time to time at my shop. Usually, it is a straight forward job and the cost would be about $250 - $350, depending exactly what is going on. However it would be best to get a "Quote" first, before proceeding, as this may only be a symptom, of a larger underlying problem, that may indeed cost much more.

Excuse me but the other answers are written by people who have not actually confronted the problem and are just guessing. They are all wrong. Here's the answer:
If your TV is expecting a TV input, it will keep searching for at least one TV channel on cable or antenna. If you only have a DVD player plugged in, for example, or if your cable is hooked up wrong, so there's no video signal on it, the TV will keep searching forever. (This is an unforgivable design flaw, by the way. But then, it was a cheap TV, wasn't it?)
To solve the problem, look at your remote control. You will find input buttons. Mine are small, along the top, right under the "power" button. Try pressing "video" for example, instead of TV. That stops the TV from hunting for TV channels.
Have a merry Christmas. Enjoy your new TV. Watch it in moderation and eat fruit and vegetables every day.

There are a few things that can cause this. This may be an issue with the TV itself or with how your DISH Network is set up. Are you able to change channels at all; with the remote or the panel buttons? There are many things that we would need to go over. But you will want to make sure that your DISH is connected tightly to the TV. Please email me so that we can get this resolved!!!!

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM!!! VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!
you have RESET television on the first menu screen as the tv will not detect the antenna input unless it is already plugged once the reset is carried out
What if you're not plugging into a cable box or antenna and you just want to use your bluray player?
What if you're not trying to plug into a cable box or an antenna and you just use it through a bluray player
