My Bose lifestyle 5 subwoofer appears to be performing at a significantly lower power level. Is there a fuse problem that would cause this?

Yes, a fuse problem could potentially cause a lower power output from your Bose Lifestyle 5 subwoofer. If the subwoofer is not receiving sufficient power, it may result in reduced performance. Here are some steps to check for a fuse-related issue:
  1. Locate the fuse: Refer to the user manual or documentation for your Bose Lifestyle 5 system to determine the location of the fuse in the subwoofer. It is usually located on the back of the subwoofer or inside a fuse compartment.
  2. Check the fuse visually: Inspect the fuse to see if it is blown or damaged. A blown fuse will typically have a broken filament or a discolored appearance. If you find a blown fuse, proceed to the next step.
  3. Replace the fuse: Purchase a replacement fuse that matches the specifications of the original fuse. Carefully remove the blown fuse and insert the new one in its place. Make sure to follow the correct orientation and ensure a secure connection.
  4. Test the subwoofer: After replacing the fuse, reconnect the subwoofer to power and audio sources. Turn on the system and test the subwoofer to see if the power level has improved. Listen for any changes in sound quality or volume.

Bose repair

Does not seem very complex. I think it is because of the broken fuse. Simply Open the back part of Bose companion 5. The Circuit board attached to the back part is basically for the Audio output socket, Control pod Connector and Power supply connector. on the Left hand side of the board you will find a fuse soldered with the board. most probably that fuse is broken. replace the fuse if broken or just connect both end of the fuse with thin wire (temporary) to check. Hope it helps.
I am outta home or else i could have added an image for you. maybe tomorrow.

Thanks

hi,
can be chance for fuse blowing. also check is there is any MOV ( used for over voltage surge protection) chance to become shorted. if MOV is there, insert fuse only after replacing MOV.

Bose Companion 5 110v/220v short circuit

The fact that everything but the power amp is still working, it could be only a fuse protecting the output that needs replacement although this fuse is probably circuit-wise after the main fuse you have already replaced and could be soldered on the board. Worst case, the output modules are blown and require replacement and depending on the power level it may be worth repairing instead of replacing.
Most modern electronic devices can be set or adapted to line voltages from 100-240 Volts and a good percentage of the devices, using the common switched mode power supply don't need any changes made by the user since they can be inherently 'auto-ranging.'

Water spilt into top of wave radio cd system and it is dead

Bose radios do not have an integrated fuse link. the water has shorted the main board. the best action here is to, replace the entire unit. this can only be done by sending it in to bose. i understand that this is not the option you wanted but, all replacement boards and internal components are not available for consumer purchase.

This repair or, exchange can only be initiated and completed by the manufacture(bose).
