"Did it change to a Euro, or exclamation sign? You possibly pressed the Fn button with one of the keys that have (usually) a blue descriptor/icon. Or, a Windows "feature" is that you can change languages by pressing Alt + SHIFT simultaneously. To turn off this feature:

1. Near the bottom right of the screen might be an icon of a keyboard. Left click and select US keyboard if it's set to another language. This turns it off but it doesn't prevent it from getting switched again.

2. The permanent fix is to disable the key combination. There's two ways to do this. Right-click on the keyboard icon and click "Settings". Select the "Advanced Key Settings" tab. Click the "Change Key Sequence" button and select "not assigned". Click OK a few times and you're done.

3. If you cannot locate the keyboard icon you can get at this through the Control Panel. Go to Regional and Language control panel. Select the "Keyboards and Languages" tab and click the "change keyboards" button. This takes you to the language settings described in step 2 above.

My genius 8mo granddaughter somehow swapped the w,a,s,d keys with the arrow keys. How do I swap them back?

are you talking like off of the keyboard? they snap off but not always back on- simply pry the keys up and place the key in the desired spot with the correct orientation and push down firmly supporting the natural action of the button. do this for every button- if the keys were switched software method (it should not) most computers don't allow you to reassign keys but some might, in this case you would need to follow the manufacture instructions to revert the setting or simply uninstall the software but I'm almost sure your talking hardware because not many code writer will "hook" the keyboard- or change your keypress- its considered dirty practice. Good luck

The euro symbol is under the 5, how do i type this?

Hello,

The keyboard shortcut for the € symbol is Alt Gr + 5. However if this does not work, you may also enter the following key combination : Alt+0128.

You have to maintain the Alt key pressed while entering the 0128 code.

Hope this helps you.

The keyboard layout has swapped the ' @ ' and ' " ' characters/symbols. Is this a setup or driver issues. Running XP sp 2 Thanks

This is a setup issue. The @ sign and the " ire swapped in the US version and the UK version of keyboards. Depending on the windows which you run you can decide which process to use in changing this. Although it does not pose any problem unless you it is very inconvenient to you.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

The upper case figs ie @ and " have swopped positions how do i get them back to their right postions

The difference in the @ and " symbols occurs between US and UK keyboards, where UK keyboards have the " symbol on the "2" key and US keyboards have the @ symbol on the "2" key.

Regardless of what physical drawing you have on the keyboard, you can change the actions of the keys by setting up the appropriate US or UK keyboard layout in Windows.

First, determine whether you'd prefer a US or a UK layout. In the US layout, pressing SHIFT+2 will write @. In the UK layout, pressing it will write ".

Now, from the Start menu, select Settings and go to Control Panel. Once there, search for "Regional and Language Options". Under the "Languages" tab there is a button labeled "Details". Press it, and a new window opens with the keyboard layouts. Use the "Add" button to select the keyboard layout you want (English, US or UK, Qwerty - not Dvorak), then Remove your old keyboard layout. Press OK and exit all the screens, you're done.

Hope this helps.
