Hi my name is caleb and i work for the department of graduate studies at the university of georgia. i have an inkjet 9110 that is reporting an open print carriage door and i have not found a way to fix this. the door is in fact closed and the problem persists of course.
There is a little sensor that goes back to the mother board that says the door is closed. This sensor may be malfunctioning because: the sensor itself is broken, or the mother board in the printer is not receiving the pulse. The wire that goes from the sensor to the mother board may be broken or pinched. You can contact HP.com to find out what part you may need.
thanks hope this helps Helen
Also you can look to see if debris is caught in the sensor area. Use a flashlight and dust sensor off.
