Assuming the computer has a Microsoft XP product code tag on it (so you can be legit & legal), see if you can borrow an XP installation CD from a friend.

Sometimes the reinstall is set up on a separate partition on the hard disk, which of course, is totally useless if the hard drive has failed in a catastrophic way.

You could also contact Packard Bell (I thought this company was history), to see if replacement disk(s) are available. Have your computer's Model & Serial handy. The disks won't be free, but likely much less than a Walmart etc, supplied edition.

Local help is wrong. Windows is "crashing" during a "normal" start-up. Reinstalling Windows might fix the problem. Or, it could be "bad" RAM -- remove all-but-one of the RAM sticks, and try again to boot. If it still fails, remove that stick, and insert one of the "removed" sticks, and try again.

Will it boot into "safe mode" ?

Lost windows xp. Reinstalled but without drivers. Need drivers for packard bell r1000d

You can get them all from driveragent.com . They charge $30 for a 1 year subscription and can be used on up to ten computers. This has sure helped me a lot.

Reinstalling windows on desktop

you will not be able to get the drivers for the packard bell computer, especially for windows XP. the computer was discontinued way before XP came out, as well as the company going out of business. There is a new packard bell company, but based in Europe only. In addition, when you use the HP cd, it will probably say not compatible with non-hp computers.
your best bet is to download you important information and store it on a new unit.

Hi i have a packardbell easy note mx recently my windows xp is crashed so i had installed piracy windows xp its working normally ,i just need to know that on the back of my laptop their is a serial number...

Yes, as long as it's same XP as you had before (either Home, Professional or Media Centre Edition). Microsoft activation recognises serial number and also version of OS you are activating, so as long as these both match, no problem. As far as driver disc goes, contact store you bought it from, they just may have needed a copy as one stage, or be able to contact somebody who owns the same model to see if they would be prepared to burn a copy for you. Hope this helps

Our Computer had a virus, someone put another version of windows XP on and then we lost everything including our sound.

Many Packard-Bell systems use a Crystal sound card.
If you can get the number from the card (usually CSXXXX) you can pick the right driver from this site:

Modem and video card driver problems

Try installing Linux to make sure that the hardware is working properly. Is it possible that they are switched off in bios, thereby preventing Windoze from finding them ?
