I have a GE GDS18LBP fridge. Recently it stopped making ice. I have determined that no water is entering the ice maker fill tray. I have also verified that water from the basement is flowing from the house water outlet throgh the tube and into the fridge's water inlet valve. (The filter has been completely removed for verification that water is entering the water inlet value. I suspect the inlet valve is bad. Is there a way to determine if it needs to be replaced ?

Is the ice maker fill tube frozen? What is your model # ? Is there water leaking on the floor? you may have a broken or cracked hose at or around the water valve

if the water dispenser is working normally and ice is not producing, take thr water filter out rinse it with hot water and put it back, this is the important thing to do after you put the water filter back you must hold the water filter reset button at least 3 seconds to reset the system and it should working fine.

If your ice maker has stopped producing ice completely, check these, in this order:
In either case, the ice maker should begin producing ice again. Also make sure that the temperature is 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly.

Take the front cover off of the ice maker. Under the cover there are some test points, V stands for valve and should have 120, L stands for line and should have 120, N is nuetral and should have continuity to ground. If all of these check good replace the ice maker, If not troubleshoot the wiring. The fastest way to find out if it is the ice maker it to jumpre the two middle terminals on the ice maker plug. If it spits out water replace the ice maker.
