Flame doesn't flicker

I have an electric fireplace that I love. It worked perfectly for about 8 months and then the flames stopped flickering. The heater works perfectly. I changed the 2 bulbs and checked that all the wires were in tightly and still no flicker. Should I give up on it or is there an easy solution.

Jay we have the same problem with a vermont castings electric fireplace. it gives off heat, and lights up, but the flame doesn't flicker. The corporation that runs vermont castings must have gone out of business and they have no customer support. the user manual is useles. does anyone know what to replace or who can service.

The "flicker" function in my unit operates with a system of rotating, reflective fins. The tiny, AC synchronous motor driving the fins failed and I got one one-line for cheap. A fairly simple R&R.

Only downside is the motor does not always start in the proper direction, but a start/stop or two resolves the issue.

SOURCE: I have a pyromaster electric fireplace model HEF

Unplug the motor wire connector and jump it with a 9V. battery. If the motor spins it's good. Chances are the FLAME SPEED CONTOL (Part Number 10001589) circuit board is bad. I had to replace mine. It's at the bottom of the fireplace behind the contols panel.

Good Luck

SOURCE: Charmglow electric fireplace flame does not

You will have to connect a 12v dc power supply to the flame motor. The controller on the board has fried. I built a regulated 12 v dc power supply and tapped it into the bulb circuit so it will power the motor when the bulbs come on. You may have to find an electrician or techie to rig this up safely.Good luck!

What kind of a light bulb is needed for the febo flame electric fireplace?

Flickering flame fires generally use a fairly ordinary tungsten filament incandescent bulb, except the Fireglow bulbs are coated with an amber coloured lacquer. The heat from the bulb causes an upward current of air causing a small "windmill" to turn and cause the light to flicker.
That is the traditional method but ultra modern fires might use a higher-tech solution.

Flame has stopped flickering on our Century Heating electric fireplace, model HEF26. Fuses or motor?

Probably, neither. If there's no brightness at all, the bulbs are burned out and need to be replaced. If the brightness is there, but no flickering, then it's probably the motor or the shaft that the bulbs are on is stuck and can't rotate. Really not an uncommon problem with electric fireplaces, no matter who the manufacturer is. If you don't hear a humming noise when the flame function is turned ON. the motor may have overheated and shut down.

To test this, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the fireplace from the wall outlet. Wait 12 - 15 minutes. Plug the unit back in and Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Turn just the flame function ON. If it starts right up, the motor has cooled and the unit reset itself. If this continues to occur on a regular basis, contact the manufacturer's Technical Service Dept. If nothing happened after it was turned back ON, contact the manufacturer for replacement parts.

Hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

I have a pyromaster hef 337b electric firelplace. The flames do not flicker at all. The motor works, we tested it. Any other suggestions? Where could we find new parts for it

If you're not getting any flame effect or only a portion of it. One or more of the 60 watt small base chandelier bulbs is burned out. Replacing one or more should solve your problem.

The "flame" on my unit

The circuitry that controls the flickering flames may have gone bad. Or a wiring connections to the bulb harness may be loose. In some cases it's just hard to know because these electric fireplace/ heaters aren't intended to last a long time. I'm not throwing stones at just Dimplex. That's the case with 98% of the manufacturers. We stopped selling electric fireplaces 4 or 5 years ago, just for that reason. Just to many callbacks on them, after as little as a year..

I think too, that most people who have them don't thoroughly read their Owners Manual and provide the routine maintenance that's required. And, I'm not saying that's the case with you. But, I wish I had a dollar for every questioner I have provided a possible solution for.

If you still have your Owners Manual try to trace the circuitry and trace the wiring for the light bulbs. You may find the answer there.

Hope I've been of some help to you.

Flame does not flicke in my electric fireplace

if flame not flickering and you can see the globes lighting flame its the fan that moves the ribbons is faulty unless it has fuse to it which may have blown, but how the flame works is by globes lighting through ribbons that are moved by a fan to give a flicker effect unless its rotating glass wheel like some, that turn with the globes behind that give you a flickering effect its always better with electrical to have an electrician look if it was the globes yes that is an easy replace but to change a fan or rotating glass wheels
