When pressing keys it is not responding except the multimedia buttons, like internet, volume, email, play/pause button. everything else not responding...and all this happened when the vitual keyboard was put on

I know this may sound crazy, but are you sure you are plugging into the right port? If so, then the next step is to wipe the CMOS so you can start on a clean slate. Remember to practice ESD or you may blow your motherboard. Static electricity is easily generated and pc components are sensitive to this. Once the system comes on go to the BIOS setup menu and make your changes as necessary.

none of these are of any help... the only way I have found for my computer to boot normally is with a live linux usb and let that take me to my original hard drive. As in I put the usb in, boot up, brings me to live usb prompt, I do nothing until it boots from hard drive and I'm stuck scratching my head at why this works.

Did you try attatching another keyboard type? If so have you checked the pins on the keyboard to make sure none were bent on the one your attempting to reconnect? There are other questions I would need to ask to help you more with this problem
