Brand new battery on 1995 VW Jetta keeps being drained and car shuts off.

While driving on the road the car looses all power to everything electrical such as radio, speed ometer, odometer etc then the car shuts off. Put a new battery on because the old one had dead cell just yesterday but the problem still persists.

Have you had your alternator checked ?
If there is no charging from the alternator the "problem" will be solved as long as the new battery retaing its voltage. As soon as you start to use power you drain the battery. it's a bit like putting air into a punchured tyre ..... its still punchured . Could be your original problem ! ! Good luck

SOURCE: 98 Jetta...stopped while driving

During this past winter, I was driving my 98 Jetta GL and it suddenly shut down in the middle of the road. It restarted but would only go a little ways before doing the same thing. I got it checked out and it turns out I had to get new fuses. I knew someone who could put them in it was very cheap to fix.

SOURCE: Loud clicking noise whenstarting vw golf 1998

it could be noisy lifters... do you have clean oil in there oil is it black.

dirty oil will make volkwagens make lots of engine noise.

it also could be a spark arcing to metal. check to see all your spark plug wires are pushed all the way down and dont have cracks in them.

Either you have a broken wire some where from the speed sensor to the cluster or you have connector at fault, the one which hookup the dash cluster to the main wire bundel. Check the connector, maybe a pushed back pin !!

Sometimes the brand new battery is dead, and sometimes it isnt. at about the same time this problem occured the passenger side rear door lost the power window and locks. sometimes the door ajar light comes...

System not 'going to sleep' causing parasitic draw higher than 25mA.

When you turn off your car the electrical system shuts down after 90 seconds to a low level draw of 25mA or less.

The door switch stays activated and rest of on-board systems stay awake too.

Need door lock sensor replaced and/or maybe window switch/es.

Have car scanned for faults with a VAG-COM scanner or simalar.

Check here for a local shop or reference or a VW specialist shop...http://www.iatn.net/shopfinder/

I have a 2002 VW Jetta TDI and am problems with turbo.

Hallo
1.Disconect lower hose from intercooler and oil (from 0,1 liter or more) (sometimes 1-2 liters) comes out, you should not drive it.(car had probably loose power) Change the turbine, oil and oil filter. do not forget to disconect lower hose and let oil drain out. Otherwise when new turbine is instald, the air flow will **** this oil inside the engine and distroy it.
2.your car is not designed to run without turbine and will not work like normal disel.(SDI).
hope it helps

Battery loose power

I had a very similar problem on my daughter's VW New Beetle. The garage checked the electrical system, installed a new battery, and within days the battery was dead once again. After quite a bit of hunting and tweeking the problem was isolated to an electrical connection to the hood release latch. The electrical connection was shorting out, and the battery was being drained. I replaced the item that was connected to the hood latch, and the problem never happened again. The garage wasn't sophisticated enough to find a "small electrical drain" but the VW dealer was.

2002 VW Jetta died while driving it.

Either you threw a belt or the alternator went bad. Your symptoms sound like alternator...you were running on the battery till you ran out of power.

Car has intermitten starting issues

when it is acting like it does not want to start, have someone or your self go to the battery and feel the red wire, if it is getting hot, you have a loose connection. check your hot and ground connetions.
