Dell A940 and A960 printers will not print in black ink, just purchased ink cartridges from Office Max, have deleted all info from computer of previous A940 and A960 printers, reinstalled program via disc. Will not print fron notebook, email, from scan, test page shows no black on it. It's like it doesn't even know about black ink. Dell troubleshooting was pretty much useless.

I had the exact same problem with a replacement black cartridge directly from DELL. I called support, and they just had me clean the cartridge manually by swiping the print strip, then running the standard cleaning commands in the computer. I had to do that a couple times, but eventually the black ink started working again. VERY ODD. I hated dealing with it, but these steps worked to fix it eventually. Hope that helps.

Can Dell A960 ink cartridges be refilled and re-used or not?

A lot of inkjet printer manufacturers make you purchase their ink cartridges by installing a chip in the cartridges so when the cartridge is empty it cannot be reused by filling the cartridge.

Hi,

Remove the cartridges and clean the contacts ( electrical contacts - golden colored ) with a lint free cloth and re-install them back in the printer.

Try this and check if it prints the test page.

Dell a940 error code 50c

From doing my research, I have found that the 50C Error message comes from the cartridge, usually if it has been refilled. If this cartridge is new, please return it to the place of purchase for a new one or a refund.

Here's what happens when you refill the Dell Series 2 ink cartridges. There is a sensor in them that cannot be reset.

Dell ink cartridges can only be purchased at Staples, Walmart or Dell's website.

Dell ink cartridges have a sensor that reports the ink level as low once it reaches a certain level. The sensor can not be reset. If you refill an ink cartridge that previously reported low ink, it may print fine, but the sensor will always report low ink. Buying or replacing ink cartridges with new Dell cartridges will resolve the low ink message.

Dell discourages ink refills. Refilling ink may lead to print quality problems, and even eventual hardware problems.

if u have not refilled ur cartridge and u still get this error i suggest u buy a new cartridge.....

good luck
have a nice day

Cartridge Error 50 C in manual A 960 No l

One solution is to replace cartridge snap-down levers  (the levers that snap down inside the dell printer to hold the cartridges, blue for color and black for black). This seemed to have work for several people with the same issue.

My Dell A940 is not printing with black ink.

how long have the cartridges sat? I've noticed after about a week, that dell ink clogs up. Also, Lexmark makes most Dell printers. In my time as a cartridge refiller, we blow through dells and lexmarks and when they **** out, usually it acts like it prints, but nothing comes out printed, only blank pages

Dell A940 Color Ink Problem

Do check the option and make sure that you have not inadvertently set it to black only- This could be computer wise or on the A940 panel. If you are sure all is well here Remove the scanner software and reinstall. Email Dell to See what they have to say
