Thanks For Your Time! I have a dimage 7 hi, which worked fine a couple of weeks ago. Turned it on recently and lcd is black, although when i try to take a picture it still makes the sound. when i look through the eye piece this is also blank? i can view pictures i took before this problem arised but that this is really all i can do? any suggestions are appreciated!!
As of last fall. 2008. Sony is done fixing these cameras under a recall. They still repair them but for a flat fee of 186.00.
Yep, this sounds like a defective Sony CCD issue. If so, Sony will fix your Minolta camera for free (with free shipping) regardless of warranty. You need to do this before March 31, 2008 so get going! See this link:

This is part of a known problem with the SONY image sensors that operate the lcd. There is in fact a recall that will replace the bad componets. You need to contact SONY for repairs. Check out this website to learn more about your problem. http://www.imaging-resource.com/badccds.html
