Try tapping firmly on the gas valve while it is trying to open. If it ignites, you will definately need a new gas valve in the near future (but this little trick might get you by for a while). If not, try using a meter, to make sure you are getting 24v to the gas valve. If you are getting 24v to the gas valve and it is not opeining, you have a bad gas valve. If you are not getting 24v to the gas valve, you have a different problem like a bad transformer, ignition box, or circuit board.

Does this valve have a standing pilot? if not, if my hot surface ignitor lights up and the furnace fails to light would you consider it to be a faulty gas valve? I am getting a constant 24 volts fro

If your getting 24 Volts to the gas Valve and the gas Valve is not opening replace your gas valve If your not getting a full 24 volts check your Transformer and the ground to the gas valve. If the gas valve still does not open change the Gas valve.

Amana furnace. The furnace goes through the cycle but wont ignite. I have already checked the ignitor.

Try blowing out the jet Burners with compressed air especially the one nearest the Ignitor. Right through where the gas comes in. These can get dusty and cause ignition failures. Also check to see if the Ignitor is in the path of the burner and has not somehow gotten bent. 100 or so ohms on the Ignitor should be good.

My Amana GUI090B30B furnace will not ignite. The ignitor glows then the valve releases gas but the gas does not ignite. The ignitor goes out and the valve shuts after a second or two of trying to ignite...

Hello, it is possible that even tnough the ignitor is glowing it might be too weak to ignite the burners. I would cneck the resistance of the ignitor with a multmeter, should be between 40-90 ohms typically

I have an Amana ARG7102W P1143347NW gas range that the oven will not light. All other functions work including the broiler and the oven ignitor glows brightly. I don't think it is getting gas to the...

most likely it will be the ignitor, even though it glows it doesn't mean the ignitor is good.it works on amps.a flat ignitor takes 3.2 amps to open the gas valve and a round ignitor takes 2.5 amps to open the valve, the only way to check it is to replace it and i would or if you have an amp meter with a clamp on it you just stick one of the wires going to the ignitor inside the clamp and it will tell you how many amps are coming out of the ignitor.buy a new ignitor and you should be fine.it calls for ignitor part number 31940001 and it's around 50 dollars.

Gas valve clicks but does not light

Hello
The click is either the gas valve opening or the ignitor trying to ignite.

From what you decribe,im going to say you have a bad ignitor.

If the gas valve is indeed opening, then you need igniton to light the gas,
which leads me to say bad ignitor.

Hope this helps.

RHEEM RGLE-10EQAGS Gas Furnace - Intermitent. Fans come on, Hot surface Ignitor comes on, then sometimes Gas Valve opens and all is fine, Other times, gas valve doesn't open and Hot surface Ignitor goes...

The sequence is Igniter comes on, valve comes on, flame sensor senses flame. If no flame is sensed after 3 tries, a lockout occurs. If you have a volt meter, check for 24-27 Volts AC coming to the gas valve, if your getting voltage to the valve but no gas, your gas valve is defective. It could be a intermittent problem, no matter, still a bad valve. if no voltage to valve, defective circuit board.

Oven will not light but glow stick comes on.

The ignitor has to be hot enough to open the gas valve. It is glowing some but not enough to open the valve. Replace the ignitor.

Oven not lighting on Amana model agds902ss

Helloemauldin Welcome to Fixya
My name is Huum,

When you turn the thermostat on your range on it sends 120 volts to the bake valve and ignitor. The bake valve and ignitor are wired in series and the ignitor draws all the current and heats up. As the ignitor heats its resistance changes and when it is cherry red the current switches to the gas valve and it opens. The amp draw on the ignitor needs to be 3.2-3.6 amps for the gas valve to open. The gas valve has gas to it at all times. The gas valve should open within 40 seconds after the ignitor starts to glow.
If the ignitor is glowing red and the gas valve doesn’t open the ignitor is usually the problem. Sometimes the ignitor will glow red but the resistance doesn’t change and the gas valve doesn’t draw the current.

This is not a do it your selfer!

Amana Gas furnace, Air Command 80 SV. Does not ignite. The blower turns on, then gas valve opens. I can hear a mechanical switch close, which is probably the igniter control. But no spark, no flame. ...

Buy a new ignitor here; The Ignitor Store. Or talk an Amana dealer/Contractor to sell you one. They can range from 15 to 35 bucks! Depending on their mark-up. Give them your model number, and or ignitor part number. Their simple to change out, good luck, please contact if you have any questions.
