Dell dimension 3000 won't turn on

My dell dimension 3000 will not turn on. it's like its not plugged in but it is and there is power to the power source. I use a surge protector incase of power surges. It was working fine. just all of a sudden it will not turn on.

I've tried the computer using different outlets but have the same problem. I'm using a surge protector and the computer was the only item connected to the surge protector that is having a problem. We did have a storm recently.

Thanks, I'm doing some research on how to test the PSU. Any suggestions or recommendations?

SOURCE: computer wont start and is

Hello,
Its not the surge protector problem.
1. Starting your computer press the F8 function key
2. Select Safe Mode
3. Select the restore point and restore the last updations you had done by selecting the date
4. Wait for a time to get confirmation
5. It will restarts the system.

If the above steps are not worked you need to re-install the OS

Let me know that your problem is solved and rate me as fixya!

SOURCE: computer won't power on(my daughter's)

Your fuse probably turned off on you since you were using too much power. go outside your house and there should be a fuse box and flip the switch to the room where your computer is located

Right click on My Computer>Manage>Device Manager>does your CD-ROM have a yellow ? or ! on it?
If so, then you somehow need to install a driver for your computer to recognize your drive. If you can get an external CD-ROM that connects to a USB port, maybe you can install the drivers that way. Once that CD-ROM is working, then you can get the drivers installed for your modem. Hope that helps!

During a recent thunderstorm, the power fluctuated and my dell dimension 3000 turned off. There was popping sound and now I cannot power on the computer. When I take off the side panel, I can see a green...

The popping sound is most likely your power supply or something on your system-board like a capacitor.
If the problem is only the power supply:
If you want to see if you can salvage it try just replacing the power supply. The part is around forty dollars. You can google "Dell Dimension 3000 250w power supply" to find a deal on a power supply. Here is a link on how to replace the power supply in that computer.

Dell Dimension Shut Down

Hi

You query suggest you have Dell Dimension 3000. Dell Dimension 3000 is a desktop PC and does not have a battery backup by itself.

I am assuming the battery backup you are referring to is a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply). If this is correct then by your description of the issues, the UPS may be faulty (indicated by the Red light and beeping).

Disconnect the computer's power cord from the UPS and connect it to a wall power outlet to confirm or rule out the UPS as the offending device.

If this does not help reply with more info
